RE: Football Banter
For some reason he is well respected as a manager, but I fail to see it. As Money_Shot said, he's hopped around a lot of clubs, and what is his best accomplishment? The most memorable moment was as Sheffield Utd manager, when he called his players off the pitch after Arsenal scored that controversial goal.
He started well when he first joined Sunderland, but he's spent far too much on average players (bar Bent and Larsson) and I think he kind of deserves the sack.

RE: Football Banter
What a fantastic performance tonight from Palace. That wasn't a flukey victory by any means, we were the better team. Our first goal from Darren Ambrose was worthy of winning any match Also I have to mention our fans, who outsang the United fans for the entire 120 minutes.
WELL DONE PALACE !!!!
And to top it all, we've drawn Cardiff in the semi-finals, so we have a real chance of getting to Wembley

Congratulations to Palace though, hopefully we'll be meeting in the final
I hope so too, though I can think of at least three regular contributors to this thread who will disagree
I'm still on Cloud Nine after last night, but I have to mention the absolutely ludicrous scheduling of these Carling Cup matches which have helped no-one. Liverpool and Man City had to play their games 48 hours after meeting in the league, and we have to play Derby tomorrow evening. And unlike the two Premier League teams, we can't just make seven or more changes.
I understand that the Chelsea game was played on the Tuesday because of a police request, as there was also the Spurs game on last night. I fail to see how the Met Police couldn't cope with both games, they weren't exactly in the same parts of the city. But there was no reason whatsoever why our game had to be on the Wednesday. If you heard massive cheers at the end of 90 minutes, they were probably from Derby fans.
