L.A. ‘Finest Ep 4 “Time is Up” Season 1

I have to admit it’s getting better when they have serious moments it’s works very well but it’s when they try to be funny where it doesn’t work.

Thunderbirds Are Go! CITV Saturday mornings (recorded weeks ago) S3 episode 11. Oh dear! The storyline was unbelievably silly and qualifies for the 'jumping the shark' award. This harks back to a very silly episode of Happy Days when the Fonz is challenged to waterski over a shark, hence jumping the shark, and now it applies to any television series whose episode goes beyond belief. The villains of the piece, known as the Chaos Crew(brother and sister I think they are?) attack a computer game to try a steal a valuable electronic thing(they are in league with The Hood hellbent on destroying international Rescue and learning their secrets) and it suddenly goes all virtual reality on us which makes the whole episode cringeworthy...I've been told other episodes are worse, but I've not seen those yet.

Obviously I respect her choices as a strong independent woman, but I really hope Sara Pascoe rethinks her pink hair.

Does nothing for her in my opinion.

She still got an 8 letter word in one round though, so fair play and all that.

That comedienne Harriet Kemsley(who appeared on BS last month) was on that show a few weeks ago-I saw her as I was scrolling past to find the latest episode of GOTHAM.

The Boys S1 Ep 1-8 - Amazon Prime

I have to admit I stumbled across this series more by accident not having seen any write up or trailers but having watched all 8 episodes it certainly sits up there as one of my favourite series this year.Whilst there are plenty of super-hero shows across various channels this series (based on the comic books of the same name) totally flips the whole super-hero concept on it's head where the band of super-heroes known as 'The Super 7' aside from Starlight are a bunch of fucking horrible people using their super powers as an abuse of power whilst working for a shady organization called Vought International. Whilst there are no official DC or Marvel characters in this series there is an uncanny & unashamedly likeness to all the Super 7 & there legit counter-parts with identical super-powers.Homelander is like a clone of Superman,Queen Maeve is like Wonder-Woman,The Deep is like Aquaman,A-Train a speedster like The Flash/Quicksilver,Translucent like The Invisible Man,Starlight like Starfire & Black Noir is like a muted Batman.What this series cleverly does over the course of the episodes is show the huge flaws to each of the heroes or 'Supes' as they are known where Homelander is a suspected rapist with an obsession over his boss & cares very little for the public he is supposed to protect.Translucent is a pervert who abuses his invisibility power by spying on women in the toilet,A-Train is an accident prone speedster with a drug habit,The Deep is a sex abuser who indulges in bestiality with sea-life he can communicate with & so on.

The concept of the series see's a group of vigilantes brought together by various traumatic events at the hands of 'The Super 7' lead brilliantly by Karl Urban who plays Billy Butcher an ex cop (who believes Homelander raped & murdered his wife) who shoots straight from the hip & is rather partial to calling everyone around him cunts.Billy coerces his newly formed gang into exacting revenge on the Super 7 & expose them for the frauds they are to the world.

Whereas the whole super-hero series/movie genre is a largely child friendly affair (aside from Deadpool) this series is deservedly '18' rated as it's pretty gory at times with plenty of colourful language thrown in for good measure,various characters who are exposed to drug abuse problems in series that borders on dark humour.Karl Urban steals the show as Butcher who has all the best lines eleguently put in a 'Mockney' accent.Great stuff.

This was one trippy and Dark Ep lol.

GOTHAM final ever episode. Selina Kyle completely changed(new actress) and no doubt a new Bruce Wayne, who went off to the mountains of Tibet or the Himalayas to renew himself. Penguin changed with one blue eye(having been injured in the shootout with Bane) gained a few pounds and has a trademark hat(but no umbrella) and The Riddler in Arkham Asylum but about to be sprung. Jeremiah Valeska is disfigured and playing doggo, convincing inmates that he is a vegetable. Nothing further from the truth. Barbara Kean is now a redhead and her daughter Barbara-Lee is a schoolgirl(she of course will later become Batgirl) She is kidnapped by Valeska, whilst he tries to blow up the newly-created Wayne Enterprises Tower with a load of stollen Army issue C4. James Gordon now Commissioner wants to leave but first has to find out why Harvey Bullock seemingly killed a guard that worked at Blackgate Prison-Turns out he has been set up by Valeska. Lucius Fox and Lee Thompkins-Gordon defuse the bomb and C4 inside a model of the old Gotham Clock Tower.

Meanwhile Alfred has made a recovery although reliant on a stick. Selina tells him that she is being watched by Bruce(after she steals a valuable diamond) later Bruce(Batman) tells her he had to leave but now won't leave again, but that relationship was doomed anyway and Selina refuses to return the diamond(she will become the Catwoman later too). Riddler and Penguin encounter the Batman and end up being strung up on a lamp post, but again later escape. And finally Commissioner Gordon unwraps the searchlight which he used to shine skywards to show Bruce that there was light in darkness and he, Bullock, and Alfred look up and see a man on a building-and thus BATMAN is born. What a great series this turned out to be, people were sceptical at first, you can't have a series about Gotham without Batman, but it all worked so well, clever writing, good characters and an excellent cast over 5 series. I will miss this a lot.
