RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it?
We have restrictions in place for Hogmanay, our new rules came into effect on boxing day, so most events are cancelled, which is sensible.
With me no longer drinking, I'll be having snacks, watching the bells, then buggering off to bed at one(ish), so meh. lol.
Even if the early data about the new variant does end up being true, with it being more transmissible, but milder, is it really worth risking...

I know the Channels are pretty dire these days but surely you're not that desperate?
Fair point, must be the fever I don't have
Speaking of which, the whole gov/nhs info is still hopelessly out-dated, still asking for the 3 main symptoms, fever, continuous cough, and loss of taste or smell, none of which are common with omicron.
Like most folk, I had basic cold symptoms, for me mainly runny nose and a tickly throat, giving an intermittent, not continuous cough.
I know it's christmas, but surely someone somewhere can sit at a pc for two minutes and update the online resources to reflect the current reality.

No, these models are an insane attempt at weirdo experts trying to get their weird way. Case numbers have become the highlight of some peoples day, sad bastards. Turn the pissing news off and enjoy your life.
Hospitalisations shouldn't get too much focus either unless you have to be there, this country goes to A&E over a stubbed toe. And deaths "with" a virus with no proof as the cause of death for many of them? lol
