20 Million Miles to Earth(1957)
Nathan H Juran directs this simple tale about a spaceship returning from Venus which crashes into the sea off the coast of Sicily bringing with it the Ymir, one of Ray Harryhausen's most unique creations.A creature that starts off tiny and grows to colossal proportions.

C.H.U.D(1984)
Homeless people who live in the sewers are exposed to toxic, nuclear waste and become "Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dwellers".Thanks to the direction of Douglas Creek and some excellent make up effects, this is a pretty decent B movie.

Night of the Demon(1957)
Dana Andrews investigates a Satanic cult led by Dr Julian Karlswell played brilliantly by Niall MacGinnis. The demon itself was supposed to remain unseen but the studio included it anyway over director Jacques Tourneur's objections.A very effective, low key, horror thriller.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - 2001, directed by Peter Jackson, with (principal actors) Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Orlando Bloom, Billy Boyd, Dominic Monaghan, John Rhys Davis, Sean Bean
8/10
I'm not a fan of the fantasy-genre, but I liked this movie. Great special effects, stunning locations, and also great acting! I particularly appreciated McKellen's characterization.
year after year after year, I keep reading that the shows were better "in the past"... maybe they were never that great (except in the pioneering era)?

The Manitou(1978)
William Girdler directs this tale of a woman who has a tumour on her neck which turns out to be a growing,demonic,400 year old Native American spirit called a Manitou.A very entertaining and strange film with excellent animatronics and a funny performance from Tony Curtis.
