I agree in part. Far too much
generic, cropped and exposed, erogenous zones funding the shows still. Far too little of the babe's personalities and sensualities backing such material. But we got here partly because 'we' demanded it (or at least accepted it in enough quantity when offered it - note it took until sufficent tech was widespread enough for it to impact properly). It's hard to use logic against what other guys clearly want and are paying for en masse - particularly when the shows are so keen to let one customer fend off another by simply out spending them in the moment. You basically end up asking insiders not to be so bloody craven and short-termist. Good luck winning on that one!
(Although I'll probably still be here, pissing in the wind, saying that is indeed the case with you!)

Maybe; maybe not. I was foregoing naunce to provide a concise generalised pic above... What there definitely is a big enough market for is intimate, personality based, virtual interactions with hot women. But this can mean all things to all sorts. Emotional connection on some level is certainly preferable to the vast majority of punters. And one of those levels is, for sure, the gfe. Some of them involve teasy, seductive, non-explicit visual material. But it often progresses to the explicit there too...
That's the thing about the shows - what is/will be financially viable, beyond individual babes, is hard to say as she and each babe is getting support from an infrastructure maintained by other things. For instance, diminish the take provided by one fan group and another has to make up the shortfall. (If callers are lost because babes are distracted by pervcammers the industry needs to make bloody sure those pervcammers keep coming back in future. At least until its monies can be replaced by that of the next tech saviour! Same with private obsessed johnnies coming to the fore atm.)
At its heart, what the shows sell is access, and ongoing connections, to a babe's attentions (whatever that may entail on each occassion); whatever the fantasy that attention can promote in the punter. Like you say you'd hope if the babe's attentions are expressed well enough there'd be sufficent market for them no matter what form their representation takes. The central point I was making above was the more the harder content predominates, the more difficult it is for a babe to buck that trend because of the simple expectations wrought by the content going on about her.
An example: In late 2015 Evelyn was holding out against the successful arrival of (non-regulated) pervcam to the shows. January 2016 she gave in to the pull, became its clear most successful exponent at 66, and look at her content levels now. But even so there's a massive personality component to what prompts the spending of her, yes, small band of (frankly) obsessive and accepting fans. And only the occasional nip on main cam from her even now! So it's evident a babe should be able to keep explicit visuals off main cam at least, should see wish. There
are still several ways to skin the cat even when near everyone is doing 'hardcore' in some form.
