Who was it that made such a ridiculous comment? It baffles me to think that anyone could consider Babestar as anything other than the greatest and bravest Babe channel we've ever had.

I hope it never returns, it was dreadful.
You two share a stance. Good for you! But some don't share it.
Babestar was useless for a number of reasons, technical and presentational. Its poor resolution picture was lousy; equal to the worst there's ever been. This was buttressed by gormless camerawork, meant to be edgily voyeuristic and 'creative' but in reality just a disorientating eye-fuck. The whole sorry farrago was topped off by that awful superimposed backdrop, simultaneously hilarious and depressing.
Babestar's 'sinning Catholic' framing of sex as lascivious or dirty or something that makes uppity Sally Army members spit tea all over their uniforms in moral outrage is now and forever an outdated mode for anyone who credits that we're living in an age of progressive, post 60s/sex-is-natural maturity. That sort of person is able to see beautiful, tanned, fit and healthy presenters wearing outfits they'd probably choose to wear when not in a TV studio, as sensual and fantasy-fuelling
in themselves (Thank you Elite Daytime for recognising that such viewers are out there, and for continuing to fly the flag for revealing yet low-key, comfortable outfits! More power to simple tops, shorts and bare legs!) They don't have any need to see babes dolled up in pantomime boudoir costumes, or see them do yet another tedious naughty nurse Carry-On tribute act, or listen into the late shows to hear body parts or the act of sex being referred to in the crass, disparaging terms of yore, in order to have their imaginations stoked (as I've said elsewhere, you can't imagine that these words and phrases carry any sort of shock or excitement value anymore for anyone no longer hanging round the back of the bike sheds with a bad case of acne. It's just soul-destroying, dead slang; completely beside the point these days, except when used as comedy material).
It takes some doing to drain confident, enthusiastic and characterful babes such as Jada and Sammie Dee of any vestige of personality, but Babestar managed it, turning them into gyrating robots; basically the babe show equivalent of computer game caricatures. Those two only started to come into their own when Babestar's slapstick jalopy finally veered off the road and upended itself in a ditch, and they found work on classier channels.
This thread is being dragged off topic, but if people insist on coming in to dance on the grave of a channel they never rated much in the first place, then they're going to have to accept others taking a pop at some of the complacent assumptions that exist around this place, one of the most objectionable being that Babestar was somehow this great, epochal babe channel. It was nothing of the sort. It was a cartoonish, incoherent mess. Asian Babes is/was the real pioneering channel. Who'd have thought that the progressive decision to include one or two beautifully feminine transgender presenters in the line-ups would've caused so many bigoted reactionaries unable to get with the times to come scuttling out from under their rocks!
Different strokes, an' all that.
