Clive James - Postcard From Rome
Benito Mussolini was a fan of jazz and Fats Waller and could read music. Unlike his son, who in 1990, was playing keyboards for a living.

Frankie Boyle's Tour of Scotland - pt 1
No sooner has Susan Calman finished than it's someone else's turn. He does at least acknowledge he's following in Billy Connolly's footsteps.

Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators. S2 Ep1.

Hadn't watched the show before, then caught episode 1 of season 3, enjoyed it, so have gone back to watch the others. It's a bit of light entertainment, along the lines of Father Brown and other daytime shows. Father Brown is still the best of the bunch though.

It's great Skully watch the first series on iPlayer and then season 2 is repeated next week. Father Brown will no doubt return next year and look out for London Kills season 2 this year(series 1 on iPlayer) and series 2 of The Mallorca Files, another good cop drama series set in Spain.

Not just Llangollen and Llangower, but that bloody Aqueduct with the silly name. A good trick in a railways show Surprised
Still, a good series overall Cool
Britain's Lost Railways 2.1 - Matlock to Buxton
Rob Bell returns, with the title presumably altered because he uses a helicopter and a bicycle as well as doing some walking. Seemed more about the factual stuff like a lime kiln and a quarry than the actual railway line.

The World's Busiest Railway on BBC4 last night.
They said that it was part 3 of 4 but I hadn't seen the first two. Then again I'm usually watching something else on Wednesdays.
The programme's subject was Indian railways and was presented by Anita Rani, Dan Snow, John Sargeant and Robert Llewellen. The latter was on particularly good form whilst in the workshop examining a bearing with an Engineer. All that Scrapheap Challenge experience afforded an excellent unscripted discussion. The Engineer must've wondered where Llewellen got his knowledge from.

The Ash Tree

One of the BBC's "Ghost Stories for Christmas" series from the 1970s.

Not one of the better M.R.James adaptations and like most of these shoestring budget films it's strong on atmosphere and weak on depicting the supernatural phenomena.

The lead is played by Edward Petherbridge who is a quality thesp and his wife is Lalla Ward who a few years later polished Tom Baker's sonic screwdriver in "Dr. Who"

BBC1 9pm Thursdays: Death In Paradise-this time with Ralf Little who is bedding in nicely as Detective Inspector Neville Parker, allergic to just about everything but knows how to solve a mystery.
