RE: The album thread - Discussion and recommendations
An excellent album for any rock/metal fan is Dirt by Alice In Chains, they were labelled grunge just cause they are from Seattle, they are heavy metal basically, and Dirt is their masterpiece, and an album the band themselves favour most cause when i saw them in 2009 they did 6 songs from it,20 years old now this album and it is one of the greatest 90s rock/metal albums

1.Them Bones
2.Dam That River
3.Rain When I Die
4.Sickman
5.Rooster
6.Junkhead
7.Dirt
8.God Smack
9.Hate To Feel
10.Angry Chair
11.Down In A Hole
12.Would?

Every song is amazing, not one duff track there

We got a love between us and it's like electricity * We got a love like a violent mind * We get our love from white white lines * We got a love that ain't got no name * We kiss our love with our lips like pain * We got a love from nowhere towns * We got a love like electric sounds * We got a love that ain't got no shame * We kiss our love with our lips like pain * Kissing our love with our lips like pain

Top 50 albums,according to me

Number 50

Putting this at number 50 you wonder what the other 49 are,but AC/DC made a better album than this, this was the first album with Brian Johnson as singer and his finest work with the band, best songs on the album are the title track and You Shook Me All Night Long,Bon Scott is the best AC/DC had

Megadeth are one of the best metal bands on the planet, and this is their 4th and finest album, has their greatest songs such as Hangar 18 and Tornado Of Souls, and they are still going strong, their 13th album simply titled Thirteen came out not so long ago,but this is the Megadeth album to listen to

Even though he's regarded nowadays as the Queen Mother of pop, Elton John destroyed the American charts in that same period. If you're too young to remember him in the glory days have a listen to "Tumbleweed Connection", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" or "Captain Fantastic and The Brown Dirt Cowboy" (the first LP ever to go straight in at number 1 in the US album chart).

7 number one albums, four number 1 singles (and 3 number 2s) and all in the space of just 42 months!!!. In 1975 Elton John had 2% of the world album market, a figure that the Beatles or Elvis Presley couldn't get near during their era.

Led Zeppelin are considered the first heavy metal band and you hear the first song on this album,Immigrant Song and you would agree they are,1970 this and still rocking,Since I've Been Loving You and Gallows Pole also great songs, they gave so much to the music world and this album is pure quality, but it is not their best

The Beatles did a lot for music just like Led Zeppelin, and this Beatles album,The White Album has some of their finest songs,While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a special one,it was played at my Uncle's funeral,George Harrison was just as good a songwriter as Lennon and McCartney, but it is McCartney who wrote the finest song on the album,Helter Skelter, probably the heaviest the Beatles got

Ten,Pearl Jam's first album and not their tenth,a great 90s rock album released at the height of grunge, this album has Alive and my personal favourite Even Flow, loads of great songs to sing along to,happens quite frequently when listening to Pearl Jam,it's a shame they aren't so good now,but their 90s output is first class

RHCP's early career was awful in my opinion, really fast and frantic funk music, but over the years they matured more, made decent rock songs, and this a great mature album from them, the title track,Zephyr Song are highlights, not their best work but still a great listen,a long step forward from their early albums

IV,Led Zep's 4th album funnily enough, this is the one that has Stairway To Heaven on it,the Led Zep song that everybody knows, but there are better songs here like Rock And Roll and When The Levee Breaks, also features a more gentle song from them,The Battle Of Evermore,no heavy guitar present at all

Limp Bizkit's 3rd album that launched them into the stratosphere really, already fairly popular, this album made them superstars around the world,i remember first listening to this when i was 15 and being blown away by songs like Hot Dog,Livin It Up and My Way,a lot of people hate LB,but they are great,Fred Durst is a great frontman, this album showed how good they are, sadly the releases after this weren't so good
