RE: BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012
I think my top three would be:
1 - Bradley Wiggins
2 - Mo Farah
3 - Andy Murray
The Olympics were always going to dominate the year's sporting achievements. With such a fantastic atmosphere throughout the summer, it was very difficult not to get swept up in it all. The greatest show on earth delivered, and then some - and Britain's athletes embraced the Olympic fever and turned out some outstanding performances. I'll hold my hands up - I was sceptical about the popularity of the games, but my fears were swept aside almost immediately. Wiggins and Farah were just two of the golden boys, producing a legion of fans and creating whole new trends such as the 'Mobot' and the 'Wiggo sideburns'; Murray of course played his part too - not just in the games but the US Open win is special. Fred Perry's record stood for 78 years, but no longer.
There's of course so many others who I could choose - Jess Ennis, Ben Ainslie, Chris Hoy, Laura Robson, Laura Trott, Vicky Pendleton and so on - the list is an arm long. I reckon the above three just shaded it for me though.

RE: BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2012
I am not really on here to talk about non babe matters but I will make an exception in this case. IMHO the title should be BBC Most Popular Sportsperson of the Year. For other awards substitute Best for Most Popular.
To me the principle of trying to choose one sportsperson across such a variety of different sports in fundamentally flawed. All the nominations and a lot who have not made the list have been exceptional in their chosen sports. At the end of the day it is a popularity poll.
