thats correct, for freeview viewers you send the unlock code shown on your TV to 69979 as usual, but you won't be charged. All text messages will display the words FreeMsg to highlight this.

most sim cards are now sold with child protection on them. Depending on your network, you can go to your account online, call their customer care line, go in store or find their automated tool online to remove this lock. Some (o2) charge £1 to a credit card to prove your age, and then reimburse you for the £1
