I don't really know the details, of these tweets, but the ECB had nowhere to go on this issue, when all the England players (Robinson included) lined up before the start of the Test wearing T-shirts which denounced various forms of discrimination. The sad part for me is that this is not the first case of this. Joe Clarke, Tom Kohler-Cadmore most recently. No doubt if you dig deep enough you'll fine it's pretty common among people of their age. Maybe they think it's funny, & just showing off, but it's harmful & has to stop. I don't like generalizations, but many top Sportmen, Footballers etc. have had to put in a lot of time to get the the levels they've reached, maybe at the expense of education. Somethings got to give, & let's face it, they're not the brightest bunch.
The tweets werevover 7 years old
It's that a bit like saying "You murdered someone 7 years ago, so forget about it"

I understand there has to be an investigation but surely enough time has passed to make those comments a thing of the past and really the ECB
should accept his apology, why dig up the past now. The comments were made at time when teenagers (as we were at one point in our lives) make comments without thinking about the consequences. And like I have said, we have all been through that phase, but unlike Ollie, we haven't had those teenage comments come back and bite us on the bum so publicly some 10 - 20 years later have we?
To me, Ollie Robinson has done the decent thing, and apologised for them, and do the ECB really want to ruin a promising player's future in the game by digging up past misdemeanours when it suits them?
If their investigation proves nothing, then I hope they make a full and public apology to him and put the focus squarely back in the social media sites and press' direction because then one has to look at how & why they have brought up those comments in the first place and who was their source.
Too often IMO the press never reveal their source of information on things like this.

I agree with what you are saying, but there is a difference surely, in a comment or two made in jest or some such 7 - 8 years ago and something far more serious like a serious crime. The serious crime would be more thoroughly investigated but over time vital witnesses may pass away and there some vital information is lost to bring abvout a secure conviction if they never told anyone about what they witnessed.

RE: England v New Zealand Test Series 2021
^^ everyone says stupid stuff when they are a teenager then u hopefully grow up and would never say such stuff, by all accounts he's now a very nice man totally different for the teenager who posted those tweets,
That's the point a lot of people are making and why there has been no social media backlash against him as most people see it for what they are silly teenage tweets ,
The ECB have made it into a much bigger issue than it was and I am glad most people are having a go at them and not the player ,

RE: England v New Zealand Test Series 2021
2nd Test Edgbaston
England won the toss & elected to bat
Just the one chance foe England, with Ollie Stone in for Robinson. The Kiwi's make 6 changes, Williamson, Watling, de Grandhome, Santner, Jamieson, & Southee are out. Will Young, Tom Blundell, Daryl Mitchell, Ajaz Patel, Matt Henry, & Trent Boult come in. Only Williamson & Watling have slight injury issues, you have to assume that the other 4 changes are to rest players ahead of the Test Championship Final against India.
