I have to say I'm finding the coverage of the coffin being moved from place to place a bit creepy. Departure & arrival points would be understandable but stalking the hearse with Helicopters is just weird.

I'm surprised none of the News Channels hired a private plane to follow the RAF C17 from Edinburgh to Northolt. Rolleyes

Only 3 things in life are certain. Death, Taxes and lesbians will never look how they do in porn movies.

Not really! It is surely natural to want to witness the final journey Her Majesty will take??. What is mildly questionable though, is some of the narration, which spills over into hysteria, and - at times - overly sentimental - sadly more so from our own home broadcasters than others - personally I believe that CNN has been nigh on exemplary. These kinds of emotional responses are for the individual, not running commentary seeking to instill 'an appropriate reaction'.

NB : Wholly appropriate event here in Northern Ireland today! I thought that it was of a level that suited the moment, including the Church Service (something I would tend to ignore normally) The First Minister I thought conducted herself with great dignity - ok how could she not - in representing everyone in mourning and reflection on the Queens contribution to our part of the UK.

I do find the time filling with talking heads in the studio somewhat tedious but the crowds in the pouring rain tonight as Her Majesty was brought to Buckingham Palace was good to see.

Little things are making me emotional. Tonight it was the motorbike outriders, 3 in black and the rest in normal police gear. As they stopped outside the Palace they sat with heads bowed as the hearse passed them and that got to me.

It wasn't a protest. Just some prick having a pop at Andrew.

Not that he doesn't deserve it. But a time and a place, and all that.

It's a 30 (ish) hour wait to pay your respects, that is a commitment and a half, I respect the people waiting to do it.

I agree God knows how far back the queue goes atm... in our lifetime we probably will never experience again any thing on the scale of impact on our lives like the Queen has made.

I expect most raceourses over time will have a statue of her somwehere which would be a fitting tribute to her.
I know there are musings that Camilla might be thinking about having a horse or two to keep the royal connection to racing going, though I doubt very much that the King will have much interest, time will tell. I expect the royal silks will be retired.

When I think back to the climate change conference last year, and the speech He made I am wondering if even then Charles might have wondered how much time the Queen had then. That Balcony appearence at her platinum Jubilee was the her last appearance at the Palace, and probably none of us even knew it and I am sure her doctors probably knew more in private than we did just how long she had.
The one notable change and when it will hit home and she is no longer with us will be Christmas Day, It will be a pivotal moment in our history.

There have been very long queues (to capacity) to give their last condolences to the Queen.
Amongst all the mourners, waiting patiently in line was a very dapper David Beckham.

He queued for over 12 hours having joined the queue at around 2.30am.
