The first semi-final is underway, France-Belgium. I'm hoping that Martinez’s optimism, rather than Deschamps’ pragmatism, is the thing that takes centre stage in this match, because it’ll make for a more thrilling spectacle.

The game could have gone either way, but this France team gives the impression that they can always do enough to win.

With 4 clean sheets in 6 matches so far they are good at stifling the opposition and are therefore hard to beat. England or Croatia will need a good performance in the final if France are to be stopped, bearing in mind they have now put out Argentina, Uruguay and Belgium.

Well, here we are..
Today is the day where we will find out just how good this England team really is!! I have been really proud of their performances throughout but this is something like they never experienced before..

The opportunity to go one better than the Italia 90 team and exorcise the ghosts of THAT Semi Final - Just hope Sir Bobby is up there somewhere planning his tactics too..

It'll be hard enough to break Croatia down tonight I know we have relied on creating our chances from set pieces but we really do need to put the pressure on them from start to finish, as they have players that can hurt us pretty quickly our defence need to be alert AT ALL TIMES. All we can hope is that we have cool heads and show the discipline we have shown through out & not show an ounce of nerves. All hope the referee is less card happy than he usually is and be the Cunt that will ruin what should be and exciting game. How Fifa ever came to choose him I do not know.

France's 1-0 victory over Belgium wasn't the match it could have been, but I think it's fair to say that France did enough to deserve the win. They have now reached their 3rd final in the last 6 World Cups (after 1998 and 2006).
