Springwatch
2019 Episode 3

Another 90 minute episode based in The Cairngorms National Park.
Some of the best bits on these shows are the ones which highlight the more obscure animals that I don't know much about or have not even heard of such as these three:

The Pine hoverfly is found in one site in the Cairngorms. Its larvae live in pools of water in hollowed out pine stumps and feed on the bacteria that decompose the wood. The problem is that there are not enough dead pine stumps which are large enough in today's forests. A captive breeding project is ongoing.

The Slavonian grebe winters around the coasts of Britain but there are only about thirty breeding pairs on small Scottish lochs. It's not known why they are comparitively rare here but one theory is the realative abundance of pike which prey on the small fish that this bird also eats.

The European spiny lobster has undergone a significant population increase in recent years after being quite rare in UK waters. Scottish National Heritage say that climate change and warming seas are thought to be a factor in this increase but it wasn't a great surprise that the presenter didn't mention this, saying only that the cause was unknown. They don't seem as keen to invoke climate change when the result is an improvement in the status of a rare species - an inconveniant truth perhaps?

Chernobyl Ep 5 - it lived up to the hype

If i could find a girl that had the looks of Gal Gadot, breasts of Sophie Mudd with Demi Rose's ass, the personality of Jessica Ennis, the grace of Kendall Jenner on the red carpet and then behind closed doors the raw sexual energy of Nicole Snow i'd know i was dead and gone to heaven, so i'll just take Demi Rose's ass and Nicole's sexual energy

Gosta's Gift
A Swedish photographer visited the Western Isles in the summer of 1977, and he returns 40 years later to help a current photographer, social archive project type people, and revisit some of the places he photographed, and tries to help identify the people in the photos.

"Quiz" (ITV)

3-part drama based on the "Coughing Major" & his wife who were found guilty of cheating on the ITV gameshow Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

Starts off suggesting fairly heavily that the wife and her brother were shady masterminds in part one, continues that theme in episode two, and then in the final episode which is mostly a re-enactment of the trial, seems to want to have its cake and eat it by then casting doubt over the interpretation of what was shown in the first two episodes and ends by suggesting they could be innocent, despite the verdict, but pulls its punches at the final moment about coming down either way.

Entertaining enough.
A brief musical interlude where the Major, the Wife, and Chris Tarrant appear in evening dress on the Millionaire TV set in a song-and-dance version of the song "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" feels like padding that possibly makes more sense when watched as a scene in part of an actual theatrical play, which I understand the TV version is based on.

Favourite exchange ?
In the ITV office shortly after the win, when they are arguing if they should call in the police, the ITV lawyer offers the producer the number of the "Celebrity Crime Squad":

ITV Boss : "Sounds like a really crap detective show"
ITV Executive : "Yeah, one that we'd make"
ITV Boss frowns.
