RE: Liverpool FC
In fairness for Liverpool having such a "terrible" season, Everton are still only level on points with us with the same games played. 5 points out of the european places i'd say we have a great chance of still "achieving" this season... but this isn't the banter thread anyway Rolleyes

RE: Liverpool FC
I think a fair amount of money has to be spent on this team to bring us back to even the position of 2 years ago. I think defence is in major need of a revamp. I see Carra and Agger as the strongest CB partnership and Kelly is looking more and more like a Jamie Jnr for when Carra calls it a day. Skrtel and Kyrgiakos have their moments but both a capable of abysmal defending all to frequently. As much as I like Aurelio, his fitness just doesn't seem to be up to it so we need a replacement there. I dont know what exactly the details are with Insua but he may be open to returning with a new manager in place (I'd hope the same for Aquilani but won't hold my breath). I think Baines would be a good replacement LB. He may not be top bracket but lets face it, neither are we at the moment. He'd fit in with the new squad rules and he's a Liverpool fan. Getting Everton to part with him would be the difficulty though.

I do believe other/all areas of the team are in need of transforming but I think its most important to start at the back. At least we created a fair few chances today. 6 minutes of brutal defending cost us today, and has been all season.

I'm not stubborn, I was just born right

RE: Liverpool FC
Disappointing again today that we didn't win Sad I can see the team getting better but we still have a long way to go. We need a new centre back, left back, center midfielder, winger, and forward.

We are constantly being linked with Luis Suarez and I really am hoping that he will sign for us, he is a fantastic forward and would form a great partnership with Torres. Another player I would like to see at Anfield would be Cavani.

As for a winger, Young has been a name linked with the club for a while now, and recently Downing aswell. My preferred chocie on a new winger would be N'zogbia but I can see any of these 3 players doing a good job if we manage to get our hands on one of them.

In the last 2 days, Van Bommel and Parker have been mentioned as targets Surprised And honestly they are both too old to be signing, and I don't want to see either of them at the club. We do need somebody there, and maybe someone like Adam or M'vila would do a good job for us.

Neither Konchesky or Aurelio are good enough at the moment, and even though Warnock is being linked I can't see him doing a good enough job either. Personally I would go for Coentrao who plays with benfica, I think he would be the ideal left back for us at the moment.

And as for centre back anybody like Mertesacker, Shawcross, Huth would be a welcome addition to the defence.

All the players I have mentioned have been linked to the club.
I hope a few decent signings are made before the transfer window is closed.

However I think Kenny will get the players playing like a team, and I expect positive changes and a strong finish to the season Big Grin

eek Fuckin hell 2Bud how much money do you think we've got??? We couldn't afford all that lot in the summer let alone January. As for this Fábio Coentrão I don't know how everyone seems to think he's the next big thing as I myself haven't seen him, yes I know some people have seen him at the world cup but you can't tell me you all of a sudden decided to just watch with interest a Portuguese left/right back??? & the eventuality of him signing for us is about zero as Portuguese teams always inflate the prices of their players when an English club comes knocking, Chelsea have given Porto about £55m in transfer fees & this was just on defenders so I can't see us paying £25m for him no matter how good the internet says he is.

Charles N'Zogbia or Ashley Young I can see us going for in the summer after we sell Ryan Babel but UTD will also want Young so even though his contract is up at the end of next season (I think) this will mean we will still need to pay up to £15m so we may get N'Zogbia for £10m-£12m instead, I just hope he doesn't try the same shit he did with Birmingham & try to squeeze out the extra £10,000 in wages as our wage bill is already a bit silly.

I get the feeling that there'll be nobody coming in OR going out this month. I hope to f**k i'm wrongeek

On another subject, Darren Bent looks to be on his way to Aston Villa. Why havent Liverpool tried to get him? He's a proven 20 goals a season striker in the premier league and would've been be an ideal foil for Torres.

Judge me by my size do you? Hmmm? Hmmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the force. And a powerful ally it is.

I know the team don't have millions to spend, my point was hopefully we can get 1 or 2 decent players in January, not the whole lot Bounce

As for Coentrao I've seen him play for Benfica and Portugal, and he is a vey good player, and well worth spending a bit of money on. Luis Suarez is one who I hope will sign in the next few days, and it looks like Downing could be on his way too. Talks about a loan for Warnock aswell.

So if we could get Warnock on loan, that would be the left back position sorted out for the remainder of the season.
Downing would be another good signing as he would add something extra on the left wing, and he is available for around £10 million.
Also looks like the team have made a 2.5 Million bid for Van Bommel, even though he's not a player I like, as well as being 33, he is cheap and a good defensive player and would do for the rest of the season.
As for Suarez, He wants to join the club, but Ajax are trying to get as much money as they can, so I don't know what will happen there, but he would be a fantastic signing for us.

(Around £30 Million in January? Hopefully we have those kind of funds)

I was watching LFC NOW at 5pm & a Liverpool Echo journo was saying there will definitely some activity in the next 2 weeks.

I for the life of me can not understand why we are trying to get Luiz Suarez when Darren Bent is clearly available even at £18m I know we could get him (Ryan Babel + £8m) Charlton, Tottenham & Sunderland the 3 highest premier league goal scorer in the last 5 years (I think SSN said 5bladewave), Drogba, Rooney 82 Bent 81. It looks like he's gonna go the same way as Adam Johnson & David Bentley... Not our way!!!

babel wont go anywhere he wants to tweet himself at liverpool. as for suarez i think hes a hothead and not suitable for liverpool where as bent would be better... hes proven he can score in the league and hes english, same goes with downing I wouldnt mind seeing a "proper" winger at liverpool we have been crying for a winger for a long time.... as for defence goes i think we need a defender cause sktrl has been disappointing especially with a decent world cup. I hope dalglish signs a winger and striker this month and maybe a defender but i think wilson and kelly can provide decent cover.

Think Suarez would be a brilliant signing and would give us real boost. He's one of the best finishers in the world!A goal machine.I know it was the Eredivisie but he scored 35 goals in 33 league matches last season (50 goals in all competitions) and thought he looked a top player at the World Cup and he's only 23.He actually reminds me of Robbie Fowler.

This is a good vid of all his goals last season (no shity music just goals)

If we get this lad i'll be made up.

John Henry's in town for the next 10 days.He aint here to do his garden lads.

RE: Liverpool FC
Suarez certainly looks a superb striker but i have one worry. If he is so good, and available, then why hasnt any of the big European clubs come in for him?

On the form he showed in the above video, he certainly looks a class act but there's something i cant put my finger on about the lad that worries me about paying £20 odd million for him. In an ideal world we'll buy him for the big bucks and he'll score bucket loads of goals but i wonder if that'll happen.

Judge me by my size do you? Hmmm? Hmmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the force. And a powerful ally it is.
