Just out of curiosity, how difficult would it be to modify the plane's response to the satellite pings, so that INMARSAT and anyone else think that the plane was following the southern arc when it was flying a different route altogether? I would think the ping time delay would not be difficult to manipulate.

That would represent an extremely sophisticated and well thought out plan with attention to every detail, but I think it's at least a possibility. Is there any significance in there being a Malaysia Airlines engineer travelling as a passenger on that flight I wonder?

Is this another "Flight Engineer" ? because the one mentioned a week or so back actually worked for a Private Jet Charter Company and had no experience on the 777.

On Saturday a couple of the search ships actually picked up some of the sighted debris from the ocean - the first time this has happened. However although a first it didn't prove to be a breakthrough, as examination of the objects showed that none were from MH370 or any other aircraft.

There were 4 people on board that plane who were working on a method of making an aircraft without stealth capability able to fly stealth, but no way would they have been using a civilian airliner as a test flight.

You have got to be kidding! Until this plane went missing and Inmarsat came up with the ping theory of locating its whereabouts, I don't think anyone had ever heard of satcom hourly pings and wouldn't have known what they were, let alone thought about manipulating them to give a false reading.

I think there's some confusion on this point, because some media sources have stated that the engineer worked for Malaysian Airlines. This appears to be incorrect, with most sources stating that he worked for a Swiss jet charter firm called Execujet. This is based on his Facebook page although he apparently hadn't updated it for some time, so the information could be out of date. Execujet have refused to comment. I'm pretty sure he can't have worked for Malaysian Airlines, otherwise they would have said so by now.

They really aren't going to find the black box are they? Even if any of the supposed debris turned out to be real they would still have to backtrack hundreds of miles and still wouldn't have established any really exact location.
