Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it?

We are only 'to travel to and from work when “absolutely necessary”'
What does that actually mean? Am I going to work tomorrow or not? Does it mean if you can't work from home (I can't) then travel to work is OK, or does it mean if your work is not 'absolutely necessary' don't travel (despite some 'defence' contracts our work is not in the 'essential' category), i.e. it should close down.
Looks like I'll be making frantic early morning phone calls, and possibly travelling to work only to be sent home later, potentially un-necessarily socialising, and risking a ticking off from the rozzers.

Had all day to figure out what to say and we get the usual clarity from Bojo.

The size of the order from the supermarkets in my area was about normal tonight for the first time in weeks , I think it's possible they my get the whole order picked in the 24 hour period, hopefully a sign that things are going back to normal,

measures announced means that we are in effectively in lockdown I will have to find out from my employer what is happening as I was due in tomorrow

Regarding work, this states 'Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home', so I guess I am going to work tomorrow still, that is a lot clearer language.

Remains to be seen whether work decides to pull the plug and send us home. My suspicion is that the decision will be made by our corporate bosses on high, not our local management, and that as long as our customers are wanting our products shipped, they will keep things running.

i work in retail mate for WH Smith and i would think we are a non essential store and based inside a shopping centre

Our WHSmith has the main post office inside, so may be OK regardless.
One site I just saw listed the likes of newsagents as being allowed to stay open (edit : it's on the beeb as well), got to get the news out to the public I guess.

The branch I'm in doesn't the post office here is based in another newsagents, but having seen the list on the Beeb site and we're vowing to stay open means work tomorrow but to be honest - it wil be a difficult day for just two of us and I would not be surprised if the Govt forced us to close.

So we're at lockdown moment, or at the very least mild lockdown. Always going to happen just a matter of when but if the fuckwits hadn't ignored the advice it may not of had to happen. Does make me wonder if or when it might get harsher, like confined to own house or own property. If anyone breaks these now then I seriously give up understanding people. Shit is about to get serious now.
