RE: Europe, Referendum & Brexit (formerly Europe..IN or OUT??)
I am sick listening to the 'Picasso' of the political world Dominic Rabb. Still beating the 'stick it to the EU' drum as if a leaving member holds (or should hold) all the cards He and his fellow band of European haters - for that is what they are - not sceptics - are really in some parallel universe if they still believe (can't believe they ever did) that we as a leaving member, can dictate terms. We should have taken the May deal and ran - very fast - because a no deal would have (hope the so called rebels can indeed thwart it) caused real harm to the UK (might still do).

The EU would/will feel the impact, but does anyone seriously believe that if the 27 thought that the impact on them, would be as severe as is likely to be the case for us, they would not be falling over themselves to say 'Ok UK, what ever you want is fine by us - even to our detriment - just to secure a deal any deal, but instead, remain adamant they are done??

What level of arrogance does it take for Rabb to still be seeking to shout the odds, in a situation where we are still in limbo thanks to the rejection of the May Deal - a deal that he has roundly condemned - but which (I won't forget this - nobody should) he was at the forefront of scripting large parts of. I hope the media - for all their faults - never tire of reminding him! He will doubtless seek to 'deflect'. We know the reality!

I actually think that would happen if EU tells us to fuck off over an extension

We should count ourselves lucky they haven't told us to Fuck Off long ago. Some would interpret that as the EU saying ' we need you as much as you need us', I think they are misguided!

There was a report written by health chiefs here in NI regarding the impact on our 'branch' of the NHS in the event of a no - deal Brexit (ukexit I prefer). A news headline described it as being so 'disturbing', or words to that effect - that if seen by the public, it would cause real distress! Typically a number of Brexit supporting politicians dismissed it!

Apparently these experts - whose views these politicians would recount ad nauseum if it suited there cause - are spreading ' project fear' Ok then, should I believe Politicians with an agenda (bear in mind I am not as sceptical about every politicians motivation as some), or a team of health professionals?? What a dilemma....I can't choose!!

I was more sick of hearing Javid claiming that 'progress has been made in talks in the last week' when bloody the EU has been bloody claiming it has heard nothing from our useless Govt!! Jeez Johnson get your bloody little finger out. I don't think he will be welcome in EU summit coming up and I would not be surorised if he got the cold shoulder

Just seen what Varadkar said to Johnson this morning. Basically you can’t replace the backstop with a promise. Leave with no deal and it hurts us all. Also said Irish want to be friends after Brexit but that will depend on how you leave. The press then gave Johnson a hard time too.

He’s fucked and he knows it - especially as he has disbanded the team working on a deal and only has 4 people on it now.

Serves them right!! Dance with the devil...…!! I do not want Corbyn any more than anyone else, but if that happens, and the DUP (as forecast) lose perhaps 3 seats, they will be in no mans land. No influence, and no means of stopping a labour govt introducing legislation pertaining to NI which they/I may consider against our best interests, by order in council, rather than through a bill - effectively curtailing Parliaments ability to debate/amend. How Ironic!! As you say 'Hannahspet' there could be this NI only solution imposed - the one outcome the DUP(ED) set their face against!! So much for unionist (big and small U) loyalty! Slap it up 'em!!

RE: Europe, Referendum & Brexit (formerly Europe..IN or OUT??)
Where ever one stands on the issue of Brexit, I believe that we should be capable of recognising - and respecting - the principled stance of 'most of those' who adopted a stance for/against or neutral (few of those I suspect) It is in this vain, that I watched and listened to the remarks from Mr Speaker when delivering - in effect - his resignation speech!

A man who has served for 10 years, and has never - I defy anyone to point to an example that would contradict this - showed favour to one side - or the other, but strove to give the power to backbenchers - in particular - and Parliament - as a whole - in general. That being the case, I was disgusted at the reaction of a number of Conservatives to his remarks. Not even being willing to - on this one occasion - acknowledge his service in the role - meeting his remarks with silence and sitting on their hands! Do MP's like that seriously feel that a Speaker should be nothing more than a 'rubber stamp' - for/and of - their side only?? Seems that way!! It is such representatives I think we could ALLl do without.
