Collectors, museums, restorers, sellers... one strand involved persuading the Duke of Buccleuch to mebbe sell his rare Rembrandt. Some Rothschild had a pair to sell, and it became a tussle between France and Holland. Meanwhile some Dutch guy from a long family line discovered and bought an unknown Rembrandt and then had to prove it. And then got slagged by a friend for reneging on an agreement, after which he slagged off the old expert who validated the bloody painting.
