Bullhead(2011) A Belgian crime drama with an excellent, complex performance from Matthias Scheonaerts as a farmer addicted to steroids and hormones who is approached by criminals from the West Flanders meat trade with a potentially dodgy deal. The 'crime' part of the film is an interesting sub plot to the main drive of the film, which is how the lead character became the troubled man he is. One of the devices to show this is a clever use of flashbacks. The film is occasionally brutal and uncompromising, but never less than watchable. Also starring Jeroen Perceval( a very good supporting performance), Jeanne Dandoy, Barbara Sarafian & Tibo Vandenborre. 7.5/10

Congratulations for making it to 5000 posts & by a coincidence the film title was what an ex-girlfriend used to call me.

Seven Samurai(1954)

With a simple plot that has been done a million times before and since,Kurosawa's landmark piece of action cinema about a village of poor and desperate farmers who plot together and hire seven ronin to protect their crops from marauding bandits doesn't sound so special. However from this premise the masterful director builds an epic.Using slow motion to denote dramatic flair and the old reluctant hero finding inner strength to save the day cliché, it's as entertaining and exciting today as it was when it first influenced every director in Hollywood that's ever made an.action film.Star Toshirô Mifune is superbly charismatic in the lead role and cited this as his greatest film.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

The first Spider-Man solo film in the MCU and it's a fantastic entertaining & fun comic on film.

Tom Holland is very good as Peter Parker who is struggling to balance his life between being Spider-Man & joining the avengers and being a high school/college student living with his Aunt May. Robert Downey Jr is again excellent as Tony Stark/Iron Man & Michael Keaton is very good as the main villain The Vulture.

Special Effects are brilliant as is the action. Plenty of Easter eggs & nods to previous MCU films & Spider-Man comics

Stan Lee does have a cameo & there are 2 extra scenes in the credits. 1 Partway through & another at the very end of credits

9.5/10

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark(2010) Guy Pearce and Katie Holmes play a couple who move into an old Rhode Island house. Soon, their daughter( Bailee Madison) discovers creatures in the basement... An imaginatively shot and lighted horror movie with a strong performance from Madison while Pearce and Holmes make a believable couple. There are creepy as well as predictable moments but the creatures themselves though grotesque aren't particularly scary. Guillermo Del Toro who wrote this, also wrote Pan's Labyrinth and there are some parallels, but Pan's is far superior. Also starring Jack Thompson,Julia Blake,Nicholas Bell and Alan Dale. 6/10

Ong Bak(2003)

Tony Jaa stars as Ting,a villager from Thailand who tracks thieves that stole a sacred statue to Bangkok. The plot is thin, the humour is silly but when the fighting starts you just can't look away.Jaa uses himself as a human weapon and his Muay Thai skills and charisma help him make the type of impact on martial arts films not seen since Jackie Chan.Unbelievable spectacle and a crying shame that the actor was criminally wasted in western effort Furious 7 and the poor xXx : Return Of Xander Cage.

Mr. Right (2015) - 7.5/10.

Anna Kendrick, Sam Rockwell and Tim Roth are in it, so I had to check it out and I have to say, I thought it was very good.
Synopsis Wrote:A woman (Anna Kendrick) comes to a crossroad when she finds out that her new beau (Sam Rockwell) is a professional assassin who kills the people who hire him instead of the intended targets.
It didn't remotely make its budget back and has mediocre reviews, but do you know what, it's worth a look, I really enjoyed it.
