(26-01-2022 21:48 )Charlemagne Wrote:  Another Boris own goal today.
SNP's Leader in the House Ian Blackford attacked Johnson on tax rises. "The impending National Insurance tax hike hangs like a guillotine while they eat cake.”
To which Boris said “I don’t know… who has been eating more cake.”

He's managed to upset yet more people with his body shaming comments.

There's a long list of offensive comments that the loveable (by many) rogue, clownish man-of-the-people (some of whom he likely actually views with contempt) has emitted with Prince Phillip-like tacklessness over the years.

Here's but a few (1or2 of them being outwardly politically incorrect amuse, which is part of his charm and reason for his popularity; several however are outrageous and deeply offensive, such as the first one in light of Hillsborough):
- in 2004, he said Liverpudlians are "hooked on grief"
- on former Irish PM Leo Varadkar: " why isn't he called Murphy like all the rest of them"
- in 1995, Boris talking of a typical Blue-Collar working class British man, said: "He's likely to be drunk, criminal, aimless, feckless and hopeless"
- in 2002 in the Telegraph, he said: "the Queen has come to love the Commonwealth, partly because it supplies her with regular cheering crowds of flag-waving piccaninnies"
- in his final column as editor of The Spectator, he offered his successor some parting advice regarding their female publisher: "Once a fire is getting going well, you may find your eyes drifting to the lovely striped chesterfield across the room. Is it the right size, you wonder, for a snooze...". It is said he said to Matthew D'Ancona of the woman (Kimberly Quinn): "just pat her on the bottom and send her on her way"

RE: The Dubious World of Boris Johnson
I do wonder if this police report is perversely a blessing for our esteemed Prime Minister. It buys him time in the sense that, when it comes to any parliamentary moves to hold him to account after publication of Sue Grey's report, he can deftly avoid answering questions by saying "that is being investigated by the police and I can't say anything to compromise that investigation" (he said as much in PMQs yesterday).

Re: the police, all he and staff are likely to get is a fixed-penalty fine - effectively a slap on the wrist.

Yesterday I said he's toast. Now I'm not so sure. In parliament, it is hard to say if he'll survive a no-confidence motion. However, with the Tories having an 80 seat majority, even with 50 or so voting against, he'll survive. And even if the 1922 Committee get the 54 letters to spark a challenge, looks like enough Tories are sticking by him. I think they may come to regret that decision come the next election

^ Yep, such a good deal that, it benefits them more than us and our farmers are not very happy about it. Another great Tory deal.
