Given the link the between the pilot and the leader of the opposition, then it is possible then the hijackers were likely part of the opposition in government. Then it becomes more likely that the plane was hijacked as part of a wider plot to bring down the Malaysian government itself, I suspect.

Yes it's possible to do it. This isn't some lunatic tabloid speculation. This is a reputable speaker at a reputable international conference demonstrating that this could happen (before flight MH370 mysteriously went missing).

If you've ever tracked a flight on FR24 you'll have seen all sorts of weird & wonderful behaviour, mostly due to the patchy coverage of the amateur ADS-B receivers the site uses for data.

Also, anything capable of speeds "4-5 times" faster than a commercial jet isn't going to show up on that site.

The last signal heard by the searchers has been discounted, that was the one last Thursday, which means that 6 days have gone by now since the last signals believed to be from the black boxes were detected. This suggests bad news for the searchers, that the batteries powering the pings may be finally spent, so consequently they have now ceased the operation of listening for signals. But an oil slick has been found today, only a few miles from where the last signals were heard, so that could turn out to be a new lead, plus a drone submarine is being used to scan the seabed in that area. They might get lucky with this drone submarine or they might have to settle for it being a very lengthy process.

That figures. I noticed from the statements coming out of Malaysia that they seem to be making the pilots the fall guys.

Thanks for the link. I took a screenshot - it's a reminder of how vast the ocean is and what an achievement it will be to find the plane.
