I won't be bothering read your comments either as you can't seem to read what people post, the adult machines as you so called put it i actually have one namely a PS3, i still have my PS2 and my PS1 too but at the same time i have my other nintendo consoles. I love all of them for different reasons, i've been a gamer for over 30's and i've seen many of the consoles go whether its been the Atari consoles, the sega consoles, nintendo consoles, the Sony Consoles and Xbox consoles and have enjoyed everyone them because am a real gamer and how dare you question how old i am, so i don't know anything about hardcore gaming right here's a list of some hardcore games i have been playing and they have been on the PS3. Resident Evil 5 one of fav games, Resident Evil 6 i paid the extra money to get the steel book as am big fan, Hitman Absolution, Mortal Kombat 9, Need For Speed: Most Wanted, The Darkness, Mortal kombat Vs DC Comics, all the Call Of Duty Games except Black ops 2, Battlefield 3, the Medal of Honour games, Sleeping Dogs, Dead Space 1 and 2, Grand Theft Auto 4, Red Dead Redemption, splinter cell, all the Assassin Creed game except for the 3rd which am getting for christmas on the Wii U, all these games are 18 and are on the PS3 so what does make me then?. If you don't like a particular console fine then don't post on the forum thread clearly saying Wii U if you don't like it no one is forcing you post on the thread, i also happen to like nintendo as i like there games just as much as i like PS3, i don't have a 360 but i used to play on mates 360 and loved Forza, Gears of War, Halo, if i can find a cheap 360 i'll be picking up the games i can't get on the 360. Real hardcore gamers learn to respect and appreciate other peoples taste in consoles whether its a console or pc.
I enjoyed the Metroid Prime games, Resident Evil 4, No More Heroes, House of Dead: Overkill, Dead Space Extraction, Eternal Darkness, Splinter cell all these games were either on the Wii or Gamecube, i used to enjoy and still do playing Tiger Woods on the Wii and its the next best thing to playing real golf. I still love the old Mega Drives like Streets of Rage 1,2,3, Final Fight, Sonic, Toe Jam and Earl, all classic games and one of fav games Street Fighter 3 on the Dreamcast.

It is a cometitive market this but for a layman like me I have all of them I tend to buy RPG games for my XBox, sports games for my PS3 and to be honest I bought the Wii for my 11 year old. Even she does not play that now. The wii is a good piece of kit which was cutting edge when it came out but the Kinect and Move just do it better now.

With the Wii U i believe from the looks of it may appeal to me more and the list of games out with it looks impressive. Look forward to Kalel roadtesting it and giving us his opinion one I actually value to be fair.

Technically the Wii actually wasn't a next gen console but thats beside the point, with all these consoles out the people that benefit from them are us gamers and long may it continue now am off to play a kiddie game of Doom BFG Edition .

Most people don't realise that the sound chip in the SNES was made by Sony and at one point Nintendo and Sony were supposed to make a console together this fell through they went there separate ways. Nintendo then joined up with Phillips on there Cdi machine and made a couple nintendo games. Sony in the mean time decide to make there console using the idea of what there were gonna make jointly with Nintendo. Nintendo pretty much laughed and didn't see Sony as threat as they had no experience in the console thus the Playstation 1 was born and the rest is history. People should be just be happy with what format the decide to play there games on, there people out there that don't like consoles and see them as being inferior as PC's can upgrade to have the best hardware and when maxed out giving good quality visual's that even consoles can't match. At the end of the day what ever format you happen to have you enjoy it doesn't matter what people think.

These debates are rather pointless, much like who is the top babe ever sort of discussion. Everyone has their own opinion.
Nintendo have on occasions been the lead innovators with consoles. The trouble with innovation is it can take several years before it's truly realised how ground breaking something is. Also someone comes along later and improves on the design somewhat.
As Kalel76 states the Wii introduced Nintendo's wand system to the gaming world. Obviously this was a bad and gimmicky mistake as Sony and MS then followed suit within a year. Why did they copy Nintendo? Because Wii's were flying out of the shops in droves compared to the 'hardcore' consoles.
As for the comment that these sort of devices are for kids then all I can say is the writer of that post has never played Forza 4 on Kinect-beats any steering wheel I have used!
All the consoles have games aimed at younger age groups, it's just that Nintendo do it the best and there is nothing wrong with that. I know it will sound unusual but some families will actually sit around together in the course of the next few weeks playing a game for a laugh and socialising with each other. Why can't a console appeal to both hard core gamers and casual users alike?
I own an xbox but I don't notice any particular difference in the quality of the gaming from a PS3 (Quality of the machines is different with the new slim PS3 made of cheap looking, thin plastic). I am sure that the Wii U will prove to be an alternative console with many good points. As to the gamepad...only time will tell if thats a gimmick or a revolutionary innovation.

im not getting the wiiu as im very happy with my xbox360 but it does have some good points and im sure it will do well eventually. its like the babechannels everyone has their own favourites and dont like the others

i know people are saying about xbox 360 and ps3 but this is a thread for the wii u only if you want to say things about the ps3 and xbox 360 make a thread about it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my wii u arrived today and i've been playing zombiu for about an hour or so. the graphics are amazing (youtube does not do this game justice) the controls are easy to learn and the gamepad is really used well in this game. all i have to say about this game (and the wii u in general) so far so good.
