Uk Elite Ice Hockey League fixtures this weekend are going ahead after a League meeting & looking at the official guidance. Will be a 2 min silence & national anthem played.

The Premier League & EFL are facing a significant backlash to their decision to cancel as the official guidance said sporting fixtures don't have to be cancelled apart from the day of the Queen's funeral, plus the decision by the Elite Ice Hockey League

CNN managed to get a lead anchor over from the US to Balmoral and on the air by 5pm.
All the UK TV presenters were wearing black tie from about 4pm.

They'd all been told hours before it was offically announced.

Probably just CNN hedging their bets at the first sign she was unwell. William, Andrew & Edward only got there late in the afternoon and I haven’t seen it confirmed if they arrived before or after the Queen died. Harry didn’t arrive until around 6pm I believe.

CNN has a London office so possibly wouldn't be flying in from the US.

yeah it was max foster and christine amamanpour who did most of the early stuff along with bianca nobilo who are all based out of london

i have been mainly watching the CNN stuff i prefer it to the BBC and Sky output

don lemon was in london this morning but its mainly been american anchors in the US handing back and forth to the Uk reporters

I was speaking to a woman today who has a son in The R.A.F who phoned whilst the status was she was ill but comfortable, he said he can't come home from his base as planned because of The Queen. She asked him has she died and he replied that he couldn't say.

Also when the news first broke, a journalist posted a picture of The BBC coverage. The studio has a glass wall that allows the viewer to see into the news room. It showed the journalists and backroom staff all huddled together not something you would expect for just a concern about her health.

Someone reported that when Starmer was originally briefed just after Truss that he left the chamber only to return wearing a more somber tie.

The Queen had another recent health scare, was it at the beginning of this year or sometime last, but the media did not all change into black.

We don't know what the cause of death was, she looked fine for someone of her age with mobility issues when she met Truss two days prior, seems very quick for an illness. Could of been something like a stroke or coronary thrombosis like her father. Perhaps the media & the armed forces received the message that The Queen was dead (or dying) await official announcement which came at 18:30 (a very round time) but Huw Edwards mentioned during the announcement that the message from Buckingham Palace was that she had died in the afternoon.

They hadn't been told. But the statement that doctors were concerned and 'family members had been informed' made it obvious that the end could be near. You don't put out a statement that 'family members had been informed' if someone's just caught a cold.

The black ties decision was pre-emptive and in some people's view misjudged, but in the BBC's case it trying to avoid the heavy criticism it received when the Queen Mother died as news presenter Peter Sissons was wearing a burgundy tie when he announced her death.

yeah the fact that they said anything at all and that the royals were flying up there said something was up either she would not make the day or overnight

also the fact that both liz truss and Kier starmer were visablly shocked when they got notes passed to them during the energy debate meant something was up either she had passed or was close to passing

The CNN office in London is not just for UK news, it's CNN's regional HQ for the whole of Europe, so they had plenty of seasoned broadcasters based there who could go to Balmoral. As HannahsPet said the only person they sent from the US was Don Lemon and that only happened the following day.

^ The anchor was Anderson Cooper. He's not based in the UK, he one of CNN's main anchors.
