but the league starts sunday and when you buy a player you would ideally have them train with you for a few weeks( pre season is perfect for this) before throwing them in a match so they can get used to the other players and tactics ect
Oh ya it would be ideal to have players in for pre season matches. But lots of transfers are done towards the end of transfer windows and the players that are brought in have no trouble settling in and good few times become successes

So his pretty much wasted all this time knowing he wasn't gonna get the amount he wanted, he said modric won't go till he finds a replacement(unless he pulls a rabbit of his hat) well his left it a bit late and with only one recognised striker Defoe. This is the same man that wanted Spurs to get into the champions league don't make me laugh, i want Levy out of that club.
Are you sure its 23 million? I thought Real Madrid and Tottenham would compromise on 30 million

Being a bit tad harsh on Levy, he was just trying to get the best deal possible to make funds available for AVB to buy new players.

He is one of the toughest chairmen in football to buy a player off and he has proved that with the Modric transfer saga. Ok perhaps it dragged on a bit too long, but at least he wasn't getting bullied by Real Madrid to get a deal that suited them and not Tottenham

I heard the replacement for Modric is Moutinho, a very good player if ye manage to buy him

When he held his stance against Modric last season i had tip my hat off to him as stood up against especially with footballers wanting to move when they feel like it. This time his price for Modric and what his gonna get is so way off plus he didn't exactly win as he didn't get any where near the 40 million asking price and Real madrid pretty much got modric for the price they were willing to offer so who won there Real. They have been after several strikers but levy won't pay that kind of money and some have had buy out clauses that Spurs would no way pay, i would love to see Moutinho replace Modric but they really gonna pay near enough 30 million pounds just to get him out of get out clause nope.

True but spurs need 4 or 5 players so if you throw 4 or 5 new players in a match they all wont click right away, they need time which spurs are running out of.

Levy should have got rid of him ages ago, i think the 40 million was too high but if it had been 30 million plus i would have taken it no problem but now it makes levy look like tit which he already was lol. Now i've heard some people say that last year modric was promised he could leave this season but what does he do signs a extra 4 years on his contract, now if he had any sense he wouldn't have signed it leaving 18 months or less on his contract then he could have forced levy to sell him before he becomes a free agent but then footballers aren't that bright lol. Just shows you that transfers need to be done early and then maybe some last minute deals can be done other wise you end up panic buying. The same Levy wants to challenge for the top 4 and champions league do me a favour, you don't need to spend millions upon million and go into debt but if you want win things you gotta invest an not be so tight like how levy is lol.
I'm not sure how many years Modric had left on his contract before he signed the extension, but maybe Tottenham wanted to give Modric a bigger contract, so they could earn more money when they sell him to another club

I'm sorry did you say 30 million buy clause for Moutinho.

I thought it would be 20 million, so much for the Daily Mail being reliable for transfer newbladewave

I think ye have agreed a deal for Adebayor, but its his wage issue with Man City thats the problem. But I think its a bad idea to buy him

Plus I think you are after Brazilian striker Damino, so he will add strength to your forward line

First time in a long time I'm confidant Newcastle will beat Tottenham this SaturdayBig Grin

yeah its something like that and its the same with Damino where they have to pay silly money to even buy out his get out clause, Adebayor its his wages plus he wants a signing on fee which neither club wants to pay, so it leaves Defoe and the youngster Harry Kane up front. Trust you'll beat us on saturday lol Big Grin

That seems about right the amount of players they need to improve the squad, as there could be a couple more players sold such as Dos Santos and Van Der Vaart.

But when AVB buys new players, he will ease them into the team slowly.

Besides Vertonghen and Sigurdsson, who they have signed this summer they will be put in the first team thats for sure. But the 4 or 5 players they bring in towards the end of the transfer window, well in opinion won't be rushed into the first team all at once

I heard Dos Santos is on his way out now with Inter Milan interested in him and Spurs were after Valencia’s Roberto Soldado but once again spurs will have to buy out his 30 million euro get out clause, plus he wants to stay there lol

Think Arsenal done a good bit of business they've signed 3 quality players and i know Van Persie gonna be a loss but 24 Million for 29 year old is good business as long they spend some of that on one or two players they'll be fine, can believe i said that as Spurs fan lol.
