Fighting With My Family.

It bordered on the cliche at times, but it was really funny, and quite heart-warming. I can't help but feel it would have had more impact if Paige was still an active wrestler though.

8/10.

I'm betting they skirted over her antics online with sex pics & videos leaked.

I recommend RED SPARROW. I saw it on Sky Cinema and Jennifer Lawrence is very convincing as a former balerina who is recruited to become a Soviet spy. I won't spoil it for anyone but I will say there are some scenes where she gets her kit off a few times; if you're a fan of hers, you'll like those scenes. However, be warned it is very gory in some scenes.

The story it tells finishes when she makes her WWE debut on Raw - long before the hacked stuff ever came out.

Bohemian Rhapsody - 9/10. Really enjoyed it, liked the cast and the music was, as you'd expect, fantastic.

Watched a strange movie on Tv last night.... 'R.I.P.D.' Jeff Bridges in his pomp with I think Ryan Reynolds. Confused me at first, but turned out to be a funny & fun movie.

I never sit on the fence. I prefer to drop kick it out the way instead! Could possibly be a big fan of wankspangling?

^ Yes, it's not bad. I imagine the pitch for it was "It's like Men In Black - but they're ghosts".

'Väike reekviem suupillile' / 'Little Requiem for Harmonica' (1972) - 7.5 or 8/10

Soviet-era adaptation of an Estonian short story about two teenage boys who find themselves transported back in time to the era of Nazi control after crossing a river in a boat during a hedonistic riverside party. Quite nightmarish and engrossing in its sense of hopelessness and bewilderment, with its frequent focus on the faces of these youngsters thrown into a time of danger and uncertainty. The greeny iciness of some shots is rather atmospheric and disorientating.

Captain Marvel

The penultimate film of this phase of the MCU & it's a fantastic introduction for Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel into the MCU ahead of Avengers: Endgame which comes out at the end of next month.

Brie Larson is excellent as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel as is Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury. Clark Gregg is back in the MCU films as Phil Coulson & Ben Mendelshon is very good as the main villain Talos

The story does a fantastic way of telling Captain Marvel's origin story as she fights in the Kree-Skrull war. The special effects are amazing & the action sequences are excellent with the best one being the final battle/showdown. As always for an MCU film there is plenty of humour. Also loved all the 90's music & other things from that period like Blockbuster Video

There's a lovely tribute to Stan Lee at the start along with his cameo and there is 2 extra scenes in the credits. A humdinger of a mid-credit scene in that sets up Captain Marvel in Avengers: Endgame and a fun scene at the very end involving Goose the cat

10/10

Halloween (2018);

Excluding the 2 Rob Zombie directed reboots of the iconic horror franchise & Halloween 3;Season of the Witch (that had nothing to do with Michael Myers & was about possessed Halloween masks) this film is officially the 8th movie of the franchise but is set as a direct sequal to the 1978 original & ironically erases any of the story-lines that occurred in any of the sequals.

Set 40 years after the fateful night of the 1978 original in which nervy teenager Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis)on baby-sitting duty survived a killing spree on Halloween night that saw her friends butchered at the hands of Michael Myers on his escape from a mental institution where he had been locked away for murdering his sister as a child. And in those 40 years Laurie Strode teenage years may have been a distant memory replaced by a grey haired,reclused,battle-hardened Laurie who displays all the traits of a grizzled Sarah Connor (Terminator) in preparation for a reunion with Michael should he escape.Laurie's constant obsession with Michael drives a wedge with her only daughter Laurie does have a closer bond with her teenage granddaughter whom she's very protective of.Being locked away for 40 years & taking a vow of silence in all that time may eat into a man's soul (if they have one) a soulless Michael was always biding his time when the opportunity to escape arises. Michael seizes that opportunity to escape whilst being transported to another asylum the bus conveniently crashes (on the eve of Halloween of all dates) leading to his escape with retribution & a killing spree on his mind with the reunion with an old foe in waiting.

The original Halloween is one of the most iconic horror films & was always going to be a tough act to follow & although the films directors decision to ignore any of the other sequal storylines may have irritated some fans of the franchise it was a bold move it seems to have paid off with the films positive reviews across the board.By altering how the original film ended with Michael Myers instead of escaping (how the original ended) instead he was captured & locked away in an asylum for 40 years setting the scene for this direct sequal set 40 years later. It isn't long before we discover although Michael has aged dramatically (resembling something of a silver fox) he is still the cold-blooded merciless killer of his youth that we all knew him to be. There are also several iconic scenes from the original that have been recreated. Overall great film 8/10.
