The House That Jack Built

after seeing the trailer i expected this movie to have likeable main character, murder scenes with some dark humour, plot with deep meaning and also some weird random moments like tiger licking its teeth in the middle of scene Big Laugh.

But movie was very bad. Worse than Halloween 2018.

Captian marvel (2019)
I enjoyed this a lot more than i thought i would going in, ive read review calling brie larson wooden and whilst that is true it does kinda fit as shes had her memories erased and has been brian washed by the super serious kree so i dont have an issue with it
The cgi is actually good which is saying something for a marvel film young nick fury looks real, young agent coulsen looks a bit odd though
There are some very funny moments mostly involving the skrull leader played by ben mendelsohn and goose the cat
Overall 8/10

RE: Last film you watched
Captain Marvel

Saw this film yesterday will weigh up the positives then the negatives and my overall thoughts of the movie.

Positives

There’s a decent story story arc in the movie and right about into the second arc of the movie there’s a massive twist that you don’t see coming. The Stan Lee tribute that they did was a nice touch and very fitting. Overall the cast was good in places funny, the CGI was good especially on Sam L Jackson and Clark Gregg to make them look younger. The 90’s feel of the movie did feel good along with the action set pieces.

Negatives

I didn’t think Brie Larson was right for the part, she is a good actress but it’s hard to tell whether it’s her, the script she was given or the directors even when she tried to be funny it just came across wooden and that she was uncomfortable doing me and brother never laughed at jokes she tried to pull off and the rest of the people in the cinema never laughed either but we all did with the rest of the cast who were funny especially Sam Jackson. For me far too many jump cuts in the first act so it felt disjointed and the pacing at times was really slow so it felt a little boring.
The big twist all tho was good might piss some comic book fans off especially that they could used the original comic book source as future storyline which I won’t spoil. In places the cgi was a bit dodgy especially with cat and even tho cgi younger Sam Jackson looked perfect it’s sometimes when he moved that he looked older. Now the feminist stuff is in the movie whether it was music choices or certain things that happened was very cringe worthy nearly reminded me of Season 1 of Supergirl lol.
Also the whole memory loss thing with Captain Marvel was far better done on the The Bourne Identity and this is where I go back to Brie Larson I didn’t buy into her character or the journey she was going through in the movie or lack of emotion now some of it is explained why but then certain characters contradict why she’s acting like. Personally I think Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman did a better job of conveying her character and the different emotions she was going through. It suffers from a similar issue with new Star Wars movies with lead character so you don’t feel like the end product is earned. You look at Tony Stark in Iron Man 1 who only cared about himself and wasn’t a hero by the end of the film you feel like his come full circle and him as a hero is earned not that he was already made same with Steve Rogers in Captain America. Also both actors Robert Downey Jnr and Chris Evans you truly believe they are those characters. Also the ending was anti climactic, there’s either too many plot holes or things contradict the other MCU movies, one example how Nick Fury losses his is so fucking dumb they turn it into a joke it reminded me of what they did in Iron Man 3. The whole thing with eye loss contradicts what he said in Captain America Winter Soldier. Two credits decent but not missing much.
Overall it was for me ok average at best it’s never bad or good way better the Ghostbusters reboot, just found it a little boring and didn’t stand out like the other Marvel films and probably won’t remember it in a week or two. Do you need see it for it to make sense with Avengers Endgame?, I would saw no you need to see it unlike the other MCU films where you need too. Personally I would have gone with a Black Widow film first.

The Living Daylights

One of my fav Bond films and love the sound track, it’s a shame Timothy Dalton only got to do two films.

(13-05-2018 22:18 )Nadam Wrote:  The Virgin Witch (1970)

Vicki Michelle (her off of Allo Allo when she was only 20) and her real life older sister Ann play sisters on screen.

The plot is some old bollocks about witches but is basically just an excuse to get them both with their kit off as much as possible.

Ann is actually the better looking of the two with the better body which is great because we see her naked the most. Right at the start she poses for a lesbian witch posing as a model agency boss, then she strips in her room before doing a photo shoot, strips for the photo shoot, strips again with her half naked sister in the room to have a bath then is stripped and covered in oil during a black magic ceremony.

Vicki doesn't get naked quite as much but does strip for a bath on the advice of a doctor who's not a real doctor so he can watch her in the bath and like her sister she also gets stripped and covered in oil later in the film.

I've probably forgotten some of their nudity and other sorts in the film get their norks out as well. If you like fit birds with great arses, knockers and Jack and Danny then you could do worse than watch this soft porn pony.

Was on The Horror Channel again the other night. Fucking brilliant so it is, tits galore!

SOLO-A Star Wars Story(2018) Sky Premiere. Seemingly a one-off prequel which could be slotted into the rest of the films, probably after Attack of the Clones(or is it Revenge of the Sith?) anyway it deals with the backstory of Han Solo and how he got his name, what he did to become a space pirate of sorts and how he got his hands on the Millennium Falcon. It was very good with good performances from the two main actors and surprise, surprise a Brit is a villain! Worth watching especially if you are a Star Wars fan.

Fighting with My Family

I thoroughly enjoyed this film a real feel good movie the performances of the cast were great particularly of Florence Pugh and Jack Lowden as Paige and Zak and Nick Frost who was funny as always and some nice cameo from other wrestlers even though it is based of the documentary The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family it is not 100% accurate to the documentary which i think most of you will guess it is not but still left the cinema with a smile on my face 9/10
just to note if any one is going to watch it for The Rock he is hardly in it pretty much everything you see of him in the trailer are the only scenes he is in.

Alita: Battle Angel

I didn’t know what to expect before seeing the movie the trailers looked good but I just thought it was your every day robot film I was wrong. I’ve never watched the manga/anime but after this am definitely gonna check it out. It’s the story of someone being found and having no memory and not knowing who they but as the film moves along you get little glimpses of past film. Personally I thought this did this much better then Captain Marvel with Alita not knowing who she is or what she’s capable of and your riding along in her journey in the discovery of who she is it so reminding me of The Bourne identify having no memory but the fighting skills are there. Also where I found this film better then Captain Marvel is the fact she has to earn her right to be a hero she doesn’t start off with being perfect or knowing what she’s capable so by the time you get to the end of the film not only do you feel she’s earned it but you feel she’s fully developed over the course of the movie something I never felt with Captain Marvel and again just like Jason Bourne in The Bourne Identity he slow discoveries who he really is and whag his capable of.
The special effects in the movie where outstanding can’t fault it any where along with sound track to the movie. Also Alita totally kicks ass and totally brutal as shocked it’s only a 12A, the cast were all great too. There are some heart felt moments in the movie and it’s not a total happy ending which I felt was different. My only negative is the villain does the job well but won’t be a classic villain all tho there is a twist regarding him or so you think it’s the villain all I can is uncredited role and a marvel link lol.
Overall really loved the movie and so far my fav film of year so far hope there’s a sequel and I highly recommend it.

Death Note (2017);

Whilst trawling across Netflix in the exclusives section I stumbled across the trailer for Death Note & doing a little Google research on it I did notice that it received widespread panning by critics & viewers dubbing it 'another dumbed-down Americanized remake of the superior Japanese Manga style original'.Having not watched or not even heard of the original I didn't let it deter me from watching it & gauging my own opinion.

The film is a Horror/thriller that focuses on a young, bright but unpopular & bullied college student Light Turner who stumbles across an ancient, mysterious book titled 'Death Note'.On opening the book it awakens a a sharp tongued, cunning & mischievous Death-God Ryuk (voiced by the instantly recognizable & charismatic voice of Willem Dafoe) who looks like the lovechild of the Slenderman,The Joker & Sonic the Hedgehog.Ryuk explains to Light the rules of the ancient book 'Death Note' are simple; simply scribe the name of person(s) to be killed & the method of death into the book Ryuk makes your wishes come true.Whilst Light initially draws scepticism about the book curiosity makes him pen the names of his tormentors at college where they meet their grizzly deaths to the letter in the book.Light & his newly found girlfriend Mia both conspire that the very book can be used for the cause of good by eradicating the world of it's evils ie terrorists, mass murderers, paedophiles etc but done so in the name of a death cult known as 'Kira' that attracts mass following worldwide.

Having not watched the Japanese original I cannot draw a comparison to it & so I can only judge the film own it's merit & tbh I didn't find it to be half as bad as the reviews suggested,in honesty I actually quite liked it.I do accept that apart from Ryuk (Willem Dafoe) there is a lack of strong believable characters & whilst the films plot drifts away mid-film but it does pull itself together for an unexpected twist at the end. Overall 6/10.
