They really could have done without the studio links, didn't really add anything to it, maybe just add a voice-over to set the scenes. If there was enough extra footage they might even have stretched both films to fill an hour each and released them as two specials.
SNIP

The form of the links, while practical, was also quite deliberate, I assume, and an extension of 'the elephant in the room' (which I also liked!). I thought it set the right, sombre tone, given what has happened, reflecting the, IMO, unnecessary 'death' of Top Gear, and the 'reasons' for it. Sad

I see some are unhappy, quite rightly, that the, again deliberate, lack of music at end credits, was interrupted by a continuity announcer! annoyed

RE: Top Gear
So, the fuckwit, sorry 'critic' at The Mail says:-

"There were no Stig jokes, no catchphrases, no terrible puns. This wasn't a real Top Gear episode, just a hollowed-out shell... zombie television"

Not even a hint of irony, given that the Mail, and much of the rest of the rags, were at the forefront of the media hype calling for Clarkson's head, and the end of Top Gear. Huh
Presumably, if the BBC had aired a 'proper episode' of Top Gear, I'm sure he would have been fully supportive? No, that's not right, he would have been the the BBC's throat, attacking them for all he is worth, in another politically motivated attack. Sad

He went on to say:-

"The million-plus fans who petitioned the BBC to recall Clarkson should be ashamed of themselves." Says the guy writing for The Mail? Huh laugh

Apparently, viewing figures were 'only' 5.3 million; not bad, but I wonder if some die-hards didn't watch, in protest?

They must have missed the deliberate reference to the "incline" in the ski slope centre.

RE: Top Gear
Not sure what the Mail critic watched, but there was the Stig’s 'Leisure Activity Cousin’ in the caravan race.

As Financial Domination continues to grow, less enthusiasm is required when putting on a show.

RE: Top Gear
There was also an apt comment from Jeremy, while driving in his classic car.

"I hate working at Top Gear!"

I guess that was part of the voice-over work he did post-'sacking'

RE: Top Gear
Having had a few car probs myself lately, the first section was a bit near the bone, but good stuff. They were right, the second half was great, even if it seemed to become a succession of silliness, a medley of past highs. I thought the first half being completed on film rather than in studio was an amazing stroke of luck when they wouldn't have been able to finish it in studio...

...and the elephant in the room might have been cleverer without a reference in the first film anyway.

Adieu Top Gear Sad
