so what if he dived...
A cheat is a cheat, and deliberately and consciously throwing yourself to the ground and appealing for a penalty is cheating, and cheating has no place in any professional sport. It's not like it's a one off, it's consistent, game after game.
What about all those players in Italy that have apparently deliberately thrown games as part of a betting scam, do you say 'so what' to that as well? What about those that take drugs to enhance their performance, 'so what'?

hes still one of the best players in the world
He has the potential to be one of the best, but he isn't there yet, and won't get there until he eliminates things like the diving from his game. At the moment, he is a big fish in a small pond, he looks better than he is because he is surrounded by mediocrity.

RE: Football Banter
I think a lot of playerrs would think twice about doing if it became a straight red card offence, that's how I feel about it, or a player of Suarez's cailbre would think twice about doing if his manager dropped him to the reserves for a couple of games, But as far as I'm concerned making it a straight red offence would be more than enough punishment. At the same time a linesmen should make the referee aware of the situation. It is time the FA looked at this more seriously as it is ruining the game. And my team (QPR), we were on the end of a few dodgy decisions last season. and i would say many would think Man Utd players are the worst divers.

The problem with that is, I can think of quite a few occasions where a player's been booked for simulation, but replays showed he didn't dive. That's bad enough, to wrongly accuse a player of cheating, but to punish them and his team [for essentially getting fouled], by sending them off would be a disgrace. If they're gonna introduce a harsher punishment for diving, it HAS to be retrospective. But the FA won't do that, because they're worried about correcting referees' and hurting their feelings
