First things first and I may only ever get this opportunity once this season to boast but Dundee United are top of the table
As for Celtic - A dramatic slide down the league - 7th in the table - surely we're not going to get an old firm derby next season in the Championship
Right so the first round of fixtures have now been played and starting off in the Scottish Premiership the results went as follows.
Dundee 1 Kilmarnock 1
Hamilton 0 Inverness CT 2
Motherwell 1 St Mirren 0
Aberdeen 0 Dundee United 3
Ross County 1 St Johnstone 2
An excellent opening day victory for my Dundee United side against a very tired and sluggish Aberdeen outfit. Also good to see my neighbours Dundee start the season off with a point. Also an excellent away victory for St Johnstone, Dingwall is never an easy place to pick up points, as for Motherwell, no real surprise and already it looks like Hamilton could struggle to find their feet in this division having crashed to a 2-0 defeat.
Into the Championship which is where a lot of eyes will be focused on such is the novelty factor of having 3 of Scotland's biggest clubs all battling it out for only 1 certain promotion spot.
Having seen the Rangers game against Hearts this afternoon on the telly you have to say already its looking like this is not going to be any stroll in the park for the Ibrox outfit as they are now up against professional sides as opposed to their previous 2 campaigns when they were up against mostly part time outfits who just so happened to play football for a hobby, their days playing against a mob consisting of plumbers, hairdressers, painters and decorators in which is was always a case of how many they would score against are well are truly behind them as the Gers now have it tough and competitive.
The results of the Championship went as follows.
Cowdenbeath 2 Falkirk 2
Hibernian 2 Livingston 1
Queen of Sth 2 Alloa 0
Raith Rovers 3 Dumbarton 1
Rangers 1 Hearts 2
An excellent opening day victory for Hearts showing Rangers that they have every intention of winning of league, Hibs too opened with a victory with the novelty factor that the goalkeeper scored the winning goal

Although most of the media attention will be on the big 3, don't bank on it being a 3 horse race as the likes of Falkirk and Raith Rovers will have a lot to say and arguably can also put themselves up for contention when it comes to the promotion race.
