RE: Football Banter
First of all I don't support either side of the Old Firm I am infact a passionate Dundee United supporter and hate the old firm and for all they stand for more than anybody but I know a good game when I see one and tonights Old Firm clash was a classic better than the Man Utd - Chelsea clash at the weekend played by a bunch of fairies at an opera house wriggling about in pain at the slightest tackle and you call that football. Up here in our league we are made of steel and just get up and get on with the game hence the reason less diving. A lot of people on this forum also might not realise this but Dundee United were a great side in the 80's when we were managed by the great Jim Mclean and formed one half of the new firm alongside Aberdeen who were also managed by a certain Scot called Alex Ferguson and both teams achieved great feats in Europe whilst the English Teams were banned. Dundee United I recall getting to the last four of the European Cup (now called the Champions League) in 1984 and also in 1987 going a step better and reaching the UEFA Cup final beating Barcelona twice in the Quarter Finals both home and away who at the time were managed by a certain Terry Venebles which included many big names at the time such as Garry lineker and Mark Hughs. Not a bad feat for a paltry Small football team in a so called pish league as the English like to refer to it.

Yes Bigguy, it's still going on nowadays; the only benefit of a season ticket at Old Trafford is a guaranteed seat for every home game. There is the option of opting out of the Carling Cup matches, but doing so makes it extremely difficult to get any potential cup semi-final and final tickets in any cup competition.
The only light at the end of this dark tunnel is that at least last season prices were frozen as a result of a number of home matches failing to sell-out. It would be brave, and foolhardy of the Glazers to raise ticket prices for next season based on the difficulty they face selling out home games. Believe it or not, the only ticket touts I have encountered this season were outside Manchester Academy for a KT Tunstall gig last Friday!
And to show how desperate the club have become, they've recently taken to texting all season ticket holders in advance of withdrawing their moneys for forthcoming cup-ties, and warning them to make sure they have their accounts ready with enough money to enable them to successfully make the financial transaction!

this isn't a rant, just trying to explain the inexplicable in my honest opinion.!! job done! next the financial crises and peace in the middle east!
