i thought the polar bears were explained... they were brought there by the Dharma Initiative and used in their experiments and when they all got killed by the gas, the bears escaped....

not the entire plotline, just key points and how it ends were known since season 1....

RE: Lost
Lost is brilliant,I wish the last season was starting now.The thing that I'm longing to find out about most is, what is the black smoke creature?plus who was the man who wanted to kill Jacob? and how did Jacob know to visit the Lost regulars before they came to the Island?,in fact who is Jacob ?and who will end up with who?,will Jack get kate or will Sawyer get the girl?,is Julliet now dead or will she reappear to the rest? too many damn questions that need answering Big Grin seriously Lost is probably one of the best ever TV series of ALL time,I'm confident that the end will be worth the journeySmileI believe the 4 toed statue is an Egyptian Goddess of evil.

That's what they said about the polar bears, yes - but it seemed like quite a quick and convenient explanation for something that was such a feature of season 1. I was convinced at the time they were connected to the black smoke.

Thanks - that makes sense, explains why they went through such a weak patch and seemed to lose their way a couple of seasons ago.

RE: Lost
I bloody loved it, I too am eager for the final season...can't wait!
Anyone notice how Jacob touched each of our trapped in time characters, could this be a 'touched by an angel' plot or was it simply to connect them to him and the island itself?
I love how they give us answers, then pose more questions. The Locke thing was excellent, if you remember what Faraday said...'once you're dead you're dead', we should of realised then, that something was up with Locke coming back from the dead, but like most, I just put it down to the Island doing miracles.
I hope I'm not alone in my thinking when I say, could they be heading toward an Atlantis storyline...it could explain the statue being similar to that of egypt (as the Atlantians were supposed to of set out and brought civilisation to the world at the time of the 'great flood') and could also be kind of an explanation for Jacob and his mysterious shape shifting 'friend' as in the Atlantis myth, two brothers are supposed to rule!

RE: Lost
Skully - I did notice the 'touching' thing - especially Locke - Jacob touched him when he fell out of the window and brought him back to life, right? Or was it really Locke who got brought back to life? That scene at the start with Jacob and the guy on the beach - I can't remember what they said exactly, but at the end I was thinking the reason there were two Lockes was because one of them was that beach guy in a 'reincarnated' Locke. For some reason, I find it easier to get my head round reanimation than time-travel Big Grin

I hadn't thought of Atlantis! But great call - that makes perfect sense.
I think they're going to go down the Egyptian mythology route a bit more, though. Most of their gods have very rich and often sinister backstories Wink (EDIT: It only just occurred to me - did Jacob get sacrificed? - He was stabbed, then thrown on a fire...)

What I love most about this show is that it makes me think.

RE: Lost
Hi Deb Smile,
It was definately our Locke and I'm convinced he was dead before Jacob touched him.
The other guy said he was looking for a loop hole so he could kill Jacob, I'm assuming him convincing Ben to do it was that loop hole, I'm also assuming he was infact pretending to be Bens dead daughter aswell (since we know he can 'shapeshift') it would explain the 'do exactly what Locke says or I'll kill you' bit!
The reason I mention Atlantis, is because the ancient Egyptians (according to Plato) passed the story on and it was a ten thousand year old tale to them (12,000 - 15,000 years ago), some people actually believe it was them who taught the Egyptians how to build temples (aswell as other ancient cultures...like the ancient Maya), so the fact the statue looks Eygptian would coincide nicely with my little theory Wink.
I think you're right about the sacrifice aspect, plus it would also give our mystery man the opportunity to take on the role of Jacob.
Another thing that I noticed, before Jacob died (possibly), he said 'they're coming', was he referring to our out of time characters (since Juliet did set off the bomb), or somebody else?

Lost is possibly the best show on tv, I too love the fact you have to really think about it...brilliant stuff.

RE: Lost
Good thought about the Atlanteans Skully hadnt considered that.

When I first saw that statue I immediately thought of Ancient Greece and its related mythology.(Jason and the Argonauts sprang to mind lol) However as Plato was a Greek philosopher it all fits in with your theory.

Cant wait for the next series, as you say it does make you think .

Still cant get my head around Time Travel....if you go back in time can you meet yourself..and if you do what are the consequences?
And can you change the future ? If you say killed Adolf Hitler before he came to Power what would be the effect today. The 2nd World War wouldnt have happened or would it..........

Anyway thanks to you and Deb x for your posts, gave me food for thought

I thought I'd try and post more than just naked ladies for a change Wink lol.
They say if you meet yourself it would cause a temporal paradox and the universe (as we know it) would end, I think it would be a laugh...two of me...brilliant Smile.

yea it dragged a bit cos the writers didn't know how long the show would last and didn't wanna rush it if it was gonna be longer. the network then set an end date with a set amount of episodes and it found its feet again Big Grin

RE: Lost
The Master Says This...

One thing you have to give the Lost writers credit for - they sure know how to pull off season finales! On the whole, I'd rate this season a 4 out of 5. It was good, but it didn't hold my attention as much as Season 4 (though that was always gonna be hard act to top). Early on it was just a case of too much going on too damn quickly - the time-travel plot, Locke leaving the island, Jack and co. coming back - then it kind of petered out and started to drag a little when Sawyer, Juliet and the gang joined the Dharma Initiative. Also, some of the revelations, like Rousseau's backstory, seemed tacked-on (and also raises the question of how the older Rousseau didn't recognize Jin). But to counterbalance that the visits to the various past timezones on the island were intriguing, I enjoyed seeing Sawyer come into his own as a leader, the Miles/Hurley double-act was fun, and the UnLocke plot twist was brilliant! Essentially, The Master is well and truly "stoked" for Season 6!

I'd actually be a little disappointed if the island turned out to be Atlantis, that just seems lazy to me. Maybe I just have a low tolerance threshold for those sort of mythologies. And I kinda hope Juliet's dead. I never liked her.

EDIT: This thread is a whole lotta suck for non-Sky subscribing Lost fans!

Dah Master Says: So long and thanks for all the fish!

Wait a sec... You never gave me any fish! Lousy cheapskates!

Note: That remark wasn't aimed at you, Skateguy.
