Is it just me or is it a pure conquincidence that Arsenal haven't won anything since they moved from Highbury to the Emirates.

Yes there is an outside chance of Liverpool getting in that 4th spot, but they need to win most of their remaining games (I'm thinking 8 or 9 wins out of 11) and they need the teams above them as well to drop points consistently. I just don't see them getting in there at this late stage of the season and I think they would do well for Rodgers first season to get in the top 6 of the table.

That's a fair post mate.

Our next 6 games are Wigan, Spurs, Southampton, Villa, West Ham and Reading.

If we can do the business in those we might not be too far away with 5 to play.

Liverpool to finish 4th or higher is 10/1 with Paddy Power, Bet Victor and William Hill. Others offer 12/1 and even up to 16/1. In comparison Liverpool to finish 6th or higher is either 4/6 or 8/11.

other teams will take points off each other! so doesn't that mean teams will take points off liverpool as well then, or doesn't that apply to liverpool? i agree with munch eagle si and others i think 4th is out of reach for liverpool although you are playing well! arsenals league form has turned around recently, and spurs still up there, maybe a surprise if chelsea dont make the top 4 but they seem to be on a downer at the minute but have enough quality to turn it around!

Did I say other teams wouldn't take points off us? I thought it would be pretty obvious that it applies to liverpool aswell without me saying, I know liverpools fixtures that are left and they are easier games than most the others challenging for 4th place, we also play better football than the top 4 week in week out, if we hadn't made a few defensive errors and been on the end of shocking referee decisions we would be in 2nd place now, agree with munch or whoever thats fine by me, He seems to know best about everything anyway so why not Smile

That's a big statement, saying you play better football week in, week out than the top 4 teams. Every team could say they would be better placed if they cut out defensive errors.
Think you might want to take those rose tinted glasses back to Specsavers and have them adjusted Wink

yep u do play some good football, especially at the minute but i just think with 11 games to go i think top 4 is just too far away! i think you will sneak 6th. just looking at the table now and ur 8th but i do think 6th is there for grabs. i thought u had won more than 10 games in the league this season though, quite surprised at that!

Top 4's a tough task now, but not an impossible one. We're an improving team playing some brilliant football at times, we've scored more goals than any other team this year.

All we can do now is play each of the next 11 games as they come. Hopefully finish the season well and see where it takes us.

RE: Football Banter
Things are really looking up for Newcastle at the moment and got a huge win yesterday against Southampton. Although I would like us to be more solid defensively like we are in the Europa League, I'm happy we are putting wins on the board and putting some form together.

I was surprised by our composure after going a goal down and then Southampton drawing level. I thought heads would drop a little and it would be one of those frustrating games were we make silly mistakes. But no, we responded well and as the game progressed, I had a feeling we were going to equalize. Perhaps coming from behind against Chelsea a few weeks ago has given the squad belief that they can claw their way back into games after a bad start. Good to see Cisse get his goal, Tiote looking like he may return to form and Elliot didn't do a lot wrong when filling in for Krul in goal.

Its been a good last few days by securing our passage into the last 16 of the Europa League and then to beat a relegation rival to give us some breathing space from the relegation zone even though I thought we would struggle yesterday because of being jet lagged and Southampton's pressing game. Hopefully with Swansea winning the League Cup yesterday, we might catch them out next weekend and nick a good point away from home.
