I don't think he'll be in office for more than a couple of months if he keeps pushing his luck, does he really think that countries and billionaire business owners will allow him to get away with what he's doing without a response, there are some scary people out there that are very wealthy, they'll only take so much.

Quite the moment: U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, who oversees the implementation of the tariffs, was testifying in front of the U.S. House Ways & Means committee when President Trump posted online about the 90-day pause on the global tariffs. By this point, Greer had defended the tariff strategy for 2+ hours and did not hint on an incoming massive pause.

Representative Steven Horsford, a Democrat from Nevada, was the first lawmaker to ask Greer about the pause announcement. “It looks like your boss just pulled out the rug from under you and paused the tariffs,” Horsford told Greer, “There is no strategy, you just found out three seconds ago, sitting here, we saw you.”

“WTF! Who is in charge?!” Horsford yelled at Greer. “The president of the United States is in charge,” Greer responded.

Horsford ask Greer if he knew this was going to happen. “We have been discussing all kinds of options,” Greer said, noting he does not disclose his discussions with the president.

The orange baby is way out of his depth. he has no concept of what will happen on a world scale with things like his tariffs, he just sees things in simplistic black and white terms.

As far as the battle with the chinese is concerned I don't see him faring well. He has no real strategy, none at all, its all off the cuff, whatever crazy idea comes into his head next. It's well documented that the chinese are seasoned strategists, they are the masters of the five year plan, and they have been anticipating this very scenario since before the syrup-wearer even got elected. They have a plan to fight back, they are prepared, and are ready and willing to absorb the pain that is involved.

What this will all mean long term for the social media influencer is anyones guess. As others have said regarding the comparison with Truss and her disasterous attempt at leadership here in the UK, the big difference here is that the republican party doesn't have a 1922 Committee. Ousting a president is not an easy thing, and he sure as hell won't step aside gracefully, so no doubt this will be spun as an awesome victory, and he'll stumble on to the next bonkers policy decision that pops into his head in the early morning and gets announced in all caps online!

So the bond markets have forced him to do this? I won't pretend to fully understand, but I know some people would have profited massively due to the chaos.
