I disagree that Rio is the best man for the job, but I think it is unfair calling him a drug cheat, innocent until proven guilty in this country, he missed an appointment, it happens. I had some of my little brothers stuff in my boot at work the other night and he asked me before I left if he could take it out and then he went to get a drink, half an hour later I am in driving through London before I remember, oh crap. There was no malice in it, it was just forgetful, if I took a court order out so that that story could never get out then there was probably malice in it. The fact Rio was even willing to do a test that would prove he had not taken any illegal substances in the past 6 months says to me the only thing he was guilty of was a shitty memory. I don't see how people are willing to defend Terry for what he done but instantly jump on the back of his replacement for something nowhere near as bad.

Who said he was a drug cheat then? I know I said he was a drug-test dodger, which is true. I think the point that myself and others are making is the simply fact that off the pitch Rio is no better than Terry.

The media has got what it wanted though, so that's all that matters at the end of the day.

Rio Ferdinand was once banned for 8 months for deliberatley missing a drugs test to go shopping. This was despite several reminders and numerous phone calls which he thought was wise not to answer. Could he really forget something so important ?

Then you got Wayne Rooney who slept with the 'Auld Slapper' behind Coleens back.

We got Gerrard who was accused & charged in connection with assault in a nightclub.

We got Ashley Cole who cheated on Cheryl.

We got Frank Lampard who was reported to have taken a pretty brunette back to his Vegas hotel room whilst his wife was back home in England with the two kids.

We got Glen Johnson who was caught stealing a toilet seat from B&Q

We got Jermaine Defoe whos been reported to have several women on the go at once.

So i guess whoever he was to choose they all have their faults. IMO he should have kept John Terry as captain. Whilst i dont agree with what he has done , i think he is the best man for the job. He should of been given a final warning.

Anyway time to go and lump some money on Spain to win now Ferdinand has been made captain

So come June and July and the almost inevitable now John Terry header which either gets us into the second round/quarter/semi/ or final and the news of the world/sun/sky are all proclaiming what a hero he is and how he's saved us let's not forget that it's they who are the real hypocritical bastards. Sky has been on all morning about how footballers have so much money that they think they can do as they want and the reason they have so much money? - sky sports paying a fucking fortune for the television rights.

All this media hype is shit. I am fed up of people saying you can't have an England captain behaving like this as he is a role model. He is a role model for kids in as far as his football. No kid gives a toss about his private life. Rio, as has been already stated, is no angel. It's all so hypotritical. Everything about the media is about who is 'in'. Look at Cheryl Cole. Beat a toilet attendent up and was accused of being racist. Now she is a media darling. All that is far worse than sleeping with a 'possible' team mates EX girlfriend. JT is, in my opinion, a knob. However, since when was that a problem with being England Captain, e.g. Beckham.

and also i laugh in the face of john terry for this, i hate him and think he is a massive cunt for 3 reasons,

1. he has lots more money than me.
2. he has shagged alot more fitter bitches than me.

It's interesting that some people here are being so negative about Rio Ferdinand for a single bad mistake he made 7 years ago.

I have no love for Man Utd or its players, but has not Rio Ferdinand been a good professional in the last 7 years?
