ye but thats the reason most ppl are paying £13 odd a month, ppl will cancel unless they change their prices. And they've also got 23 games a season starting nxt season wen the new deal starts which they have to cough up. They got IPL which they musta paid big bucks 4 as well

Setanta lose SPL Rights

Setanta has been unable to meet our extended deadline for the outstanding £3 million payment to the SPL and, in terms of the notice previously issued, our British broadcasting rights for season 2009/10 and beyond revert to us.

the latest is now the disney owned espn has bought setantas 46 games for next season and the 23 for the season after. i must say im on the side of it being a shame. the offered an opportunity for people like me who couldnt afford/didnt want to pay 40 odd quid for sky or be in a long contract, particularly in these uncertain times. i for one have lost my job through redundancy and would still have to pay sky had i been with them less than 12 months. ive had no problem in cancelling setanta, i merely emailed them and cancelled my direct debit with them. yes, they offered me 3 months at £6 a month but i said no and that was that.

i personally thought it was a good deal. premiership, spl, french league, german league, blue square, boxing, golf, ufc, motor racing and others all for under £15 a month. i didnt think the coverage was that bad, and if it is who cares. i dont watch football because i want to hear other peoples opinions or whatever, i watch it for the game.

ye but this is £15 a month extra on top of sky sports, the problem arises when you charge as much as sky do and have nowhere near the quality in coverage, i.e HD, interactive, highlight shows, big games etc.

i never had sky sports, i had it instead of it. i used to have complete sky but couldnt afford it in the end, so setanta was a very good alternative. they also gave you liverpool, arsenal, rangers and celtic tv aswell as ESPN america. were each entitled to an opinion and yes perhaps the coverage could have been better but as they say, you get what you pay for.

see thats alrite, but people who want both are left comparing them both. And setanta never has the really big games, or spanish football, or england/india/australia cricket matches where the big cricket money is. It has loadsa tennis events. I no setanta work on a much smaller budget but anything cud b better than the pundits and analysis they got now. I say bring back PremPlus, £50 for a season ticket, 50 games, was worth it.

As far as I can tell the epl killed setanta. They had been ticking over quite nicely with the spl. Personally I had prefered skys coverage of the spl, and if setanta were competeing with sky then I would have taken sky. One season of covering epl at inflated prices and there was only going to be one winner. There is never really going to be room for more than one subscription channel per league. It was a very bad business desicion to take on the english games as most people will not subscribe to two broadcasters and in the quality stakes sky wins every time. Not really the fault of the epl as they are only taking what they can get............or is it

Setanta will shortly cease broadcasting in the UK

The Administrator (Deloitte) have said that Setanta will shortly cease broadcasting in the UK but will continue elsewhere.

They will also stop taking subscriptions with immediate effect!!

Sadly 200 people will now lose their jobs
