2 weeks ago I thought there where 32 possible winners, but by using deductive reasoning and my vast knowledge of the game, I have got the number down to 4. If I continue to use this formula, I should be able to name the winner by late Monday night.Wink

Neil Robertson of Australia and Ken Doherty of Ireland have also won at the Crucible.

Cliff Thorburn was responsible for the first ever 147 break at the Crucible.
To this day it remains my favourite maximum break. It was the first, it started with a fluke and I still remember Big Bill Werbeniuk peering roumd to watch from the other table. A truly magical moment. Watched it back so many times, it never loses it's sense of wonder.
The commentary by Jack Karnehm was brilliant as well. "Good luck mate" as Cliff got down to pot the final black. Just an iconic snooker moment.
Memories.

RE: Snooker
Day Thirteen: HIGGINS AND HAWKINS ESTABLISH EARLY SEMI FINAL LEADS

First up in the one table Crucible cauldron it was John Higgins and Kyren Wilson.
The Scot settles first with a 57 clearance for 1-0.
Then takes the second with a 77 and the third as Wilson misses scoring opportunities with regularity.
Crunch fourth frame, Wilson builds a lead in bits and pieces. Higgins found needing a snooker. Gets it as Wilson skirts around the final yellow near a baulk pocket.
Higgins eventually left with a green with power to get on the brown or an easy snooker behind the black. Chooses the pot. Costly decision. Sticks up the green and it's 3-1. Wilson emerges from the interval and crashes in a great red for position on the black. Doesn't score enough to win the frame.
Higgins in for the clearance.........BRILLIANT. Granite snooker so typical of the Scot. 4-1.
Frame 6....... Wilson in first again. Not enough for the frame again.
Higgins in for the clearance again. Surely not........ surely not and no. Black missed.
Reprieve for Wilson and it's 2-4. Higgins rubs his eyes, bit jaded.
Poor safety in frame seven and Wilson is in again.
BOOOOOOOM 140 break from Wilson. Game on.
Final frame of the day then.
Wilson in first again.
Second chance - bad missed red.
Higgins in the balls. Lord of the clearance does it again for 5-3.

On to the second semi final. Mark Williams and Barry Hawkins stride into the arena.
Frame one and BOOM. 129 from Hawkins. 1-0.
74 break for 2-0.
Williams crashes in a frame winning contribution of 88 and it's 2-1. Game on.
The Hawk solidly controls frame four and goes in 3-1 up at the mid session interval.
Cagey stuff after the resumption. Cat and mouse exchanges with the pair trading frames for 4-2 Hawkins.
Frame seven sees the Hawk knock in an excellent break of 90 to go three clear.
Important final frame of the day then.
Williams calmly rolls in a fantastic century to leave him only two behind overnight.

RE: Snooker
Listening to Ronnie waffling on commentary during the latter match: "well, it's 3 days... that's 72 hours... you don't need to check the score until 2.5 days in..."

I mean, it's still better than the Hallett/Johnson waffle, but dear God...
