Well that's the Championship won its great to be able to sit back and relax now and watch other teams sweat it out, hopefully Southampton will get second place over the season they have been better than West Ham

Dan_g - Winsaw is a Bristol city fan.

good round up, however you did miss out the biggest score in the football league today... Yes 4-0 to the mighty Aldershot away to Burton.

It was a special day for Aldershot fans as well. Every year we do a ToD (Tour Of Duty) where we encourage fans who wouldn't normally travel away to do so. It was also a celebration of 20 years of our reformation and more importantly the whole day had been dedicated to one of our most loyal supporters, 'Chappie' who sadly passed away over the Christmas period. It really was lump in the throat time when one of our players held a shirt up in memory of Chappie.

Great news for Plymouth Argyle today. They managed to rack up an estimated £17m in debts, then they played the administration card and pissed it all away with a CVA reported to have been worth less than 1p in the pound to creditors! Who gives a flying fuck about the small businesses that paid into your club with good faith eh?! And now they're ready to start spending again with the sky being pretty much the limit. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17814575

I'm pleased for them.... Really.... No - honestly - I really am pleased for them annoyedannoyedannoyedannoyedannoyedannoyedannoyedannoyedannoyed

West Ham beat Leicester 1-2 away from home to be within two points of Southampton with one game to go. I think Southampton will grab the final automatic promotion spot, they have the easier fixture

It's going to be quite and interesting last day of the Championship.
I think having all the fixtures kick off at 12:30 is good, as it adds the
drama. They said last night that probably West ham need to win and probably Southampton need a point. if anything, looking at the Champioship as a neutral; it would be nice to see Southampton back in the 'big league'. I don't know how long it's been for them, but I think they deserve to be up there.

I don't mind if someone puts me right about how many points West Ham or Southampton need from their last games.
But West Ham probably would probably need to be clinical and score more goals on Saturday with Southampton having the better goal difference.

RE: Football League: Discussion
Current situation: Southampton have 85 points and 81-46 goals scored/conceded (so +35 GD), and West Ham have 83 and 79-47 goals (+32)

So for Southampton it's simple: if they beat already-relegated Coventry in their final game, they're up. If they draw or lose, West Ham would pip them if they beat Hull by four goals or more. But here's where it gets really interesting. The teams could end up with identical points/goals scored and goals conceded. That would happen if Southampton drew 1-1 and West Ham won 3-0, for example. I have no idea what would happen in that situation.

I think most neutrals would rather have the Saints go up than the Hammers. I get the impression that West Ham think they're too good for the Championship, and having Big Fat Sam as manager doesn't help them win many friends either.

In answer to babelover's other question, Southampton were last in the Premier League in 2005. I know because Palace went down with them. It was the season of West Brom's "Great Escape" after being bottom at Christmas.

Not so, it would be nice to see Southampton fail to reach the 'big league'.

By the way, if anyone wants to post any sympathetic messages over Portsmouth's relegation you can go right ahead.

They are introducing financial fair play rules into the football league next season, so any club in debt will need to get their houses in order
