RE: Cycling
I went out for a ride today. 7.5 miles. I got a bit of grief today on the road though. Some knob in a Subaru decided to rev up behind me and come within a whisker of me then started beeping loudly. I gesticulated at him but he sped off.
Later some woman nearly flattened me head on. She over took a parked car and some how didn't see me. I did actually stick a leg out at the car in absolute frustration and clip her car but I'm not sure she even noticed that !

^ Sounds familiar,I never have a ride without a near miss. Why do some motor think that it isn't important to signal when your cycling. My fave story is a road-rage incident between a car driver & cyclist not far from where I live. The cyclist was attacked with a stearing lock, but it was the car driver that ended up in hospital.Be warned motorists, most cyclists are fit & strong.

I've no sympathy for drivers who are ignorant and act like cunts towards cyclists. My friend has been known to swing an arm or leg at cars who get to close. I just feel sorry for the driver who thinks they'll take him on. He's a small bugger but like you say, strong and fit.

Another thing that shakes me up is the car door!!! When passing a parked car and the door swings open, completely oblivious to you and you have to swerve (if possible) or go flying. It is a dangerous game.

Ha, I smacked a door once. Idiot swung it open without looking, I went into it ... fast. His door was screwed, the hinges knackered. I picked myself up, checked my bike was OK, which it was, called him a dick and rode off leaving him to call the garage to get his car fixed. Poetic justice Smile

I love that story, Munch. Class. The driver will have learnt an expensive lesson and will hopefully always looks out for cyclists now. Glad you and your bike were fine!

RE: Cycling
I remember having an accident while cycling, not with cars, but more like my human error. I was coming home cycling, I was close to coming home, I saw my neighbour then and I turned my head to say hello and wave, next all of a sudden I crash into a pot hole, I go flying off my bike and into a ditch head first

Yeah, it was a nice feeling riding off a little annoyed, but otherwise unhurt and everything intact, but knowing he was left with a repair bill for his stupidity.
Quite how my front wheel survived the impact without buckling I really don't know, but that was one fight with a car I actually enjoyed Smile

RE: Cycling
What pisses me off is when cars park in cycle lanes on the road, drivers think because there in a car they own the road, luckily most of my journey is cylce pathes so i dont have much dealings with cars.

I love the fact when you are cycling you don't have to stop at traffic lights. I can't help, but laugh at people, who have cars that get stuck in traffic
