I don't mind Richards, but he's massively overrated because of his physical attributes (something we do a lot in this country). Neither Capello, Mancini (for big games) or now Hodgson picks him, which surely tells you something. That said he should've still got in the squad if Walker and Smalling are injured (instead of Johnson, who's shown he's not up to it at international level)

Also not thrilled about Gerrard being given the captaincy, give it to Parker or Hart and let the guy concentrate on playing!

Richards is not overrated, he knows how to defend, something Johnson doesn't know how to do. You consider giving the captaincy to Hart. In my opinion, the goal keeper should never be the captain, because he has a restricted influence on the pitch

I'm surprised Holt or Graham are not in the squad. Holt has scored 16 goals this season and Graham has scored 14 goals. Swansea's Sinclair or Dyer should have least been on stand by for a call up

Gerrard was born to be a leader. Roy worked with him at liverpool so knows what he can do in terms of leadership.

No probs with gerrard being made captain... The problem is the sqaud he has picked just not good enough.... For example the young kid who has been called up from Arsernal WHY? Would rather have seen Sinclair given a chance who has played premier league football all season surely he deserves it more.... But for that being said theres adam johnson to its just a total fucking cock up.... The sqaud he has named is just laughable.

He has left players behind who should be in the sqaud.... And has players in the sqaud who should be no where near it one Example Andy Carrol...

Not saying he's not a leader. He certainly is, and (like JT) he doesn't need an armband to show this. Just let him concentrate on playing football and give the armband to Parker who seems to thrive on being captain. (Parker's also more likely to start every game IMO on this seasons form)

Fair point about goalkeepers being captain (although look at players like Casillas and Kahn). It's more to do with Hart's personality and the fact he'll be in our team for 10 years. But even so I'd prefer Parker

I think the only reason Casillas is captain of Spain is because he's the only real option for the job. Maybe Xavi, but he doesn't come across as a very vocal type of person. Its also pity Victor Moses doesn't play for your country, he's a good player and would also love to see Newcastle make a bid for him in the summer
