RE: Liverpool FC
Kenny needs more time. He's had nowhere near enough to turn things around for us in the league. We've played some good stuff this year and not killed teams off. How unlucky have we been this season, be honest with yourself and think back. Any other season we'd be top 4 with ease. That's the only thing that needs to change next season for me. We're a work in progress, investing in youth, the best young players around. We should stick to the plan.

We've never been a club to sack our managers after 1 full season in charge. Especially not a man, a legend like King Kenny. If we start that then the special old school Liverpool way of doing things will be gone forever.

To hear talk of Rafa coming back or Roberto Martinez being the manager of Liverpool is an absolute, utter joke.

Kenny's the right man.

RE: Liverpool FC
I have never doubted kenny, i believe the reason this season has not gone to plan is mainly down to the players. Carrol has only just started playing like the carrol of newcastle, downing has been pretty bad this season in terms that its his job to create chances for the strikers.Too many times this season suarez has had to play playmaker and striker by himself.
But next season with lucas back and some new faces who knows we might supprise a few people.
I hope aquaman stays at liverpool and gets a chance, fingers crossed.

RE: Liverpool FC
So what with Liverpool not scoring enough goals this season I've have a couple of suggestions to try and solve this problem:

Jordan Rhodes - Proven goal scorer at every club he's played for if he can score 40 for Huddersfield than he can score at least 10 a season with the service our midfield can provide.

Clint Dempsey - Can play on the right of midfield the 'Gerrard role' just behind the strikers or as a second one will also provide us with an extra attacking impotest.

That's just my opinion I'd like to hear who others think we need.

RE: Liverpool FC
FENWAY SPORTS GROUP AND LIVERPOOL FOOTBALL CLUB PART COMPANY WITH MANAGER KENNY DALGLISH
Search for new Manager begins immediately as owners pay tribute to 'legend' Dalglish

Fenway Sports Group (FSG) and Liverpool Football Club announced that Kenny Dalglish is to leave his post today as Manager after having his contract terminated.

After a careful and deliberative review of the season, the Club came to the decision that a change was appropriate. It is not a decision that was reached lightly or hastily.

The search for a new Manager will begin immediately.

Principal owner John Henry was fulsome in his praise for the outgoing Manager.

"Kenny will always be more than a championship winning manager, more than a championship winning star player. He is in many ways the heart and soul of the club. He personifies everything that is good about Liverpool Football Club. He has always put the Club and its supporters first. Kenny will always be a part of the family at Anfield.

"Our job now is to identify and recruit the right person to take this Club forward and build on the strong foundations put in place during the last 18 months."

Liverpool Chairman Tom Werner said it was a tough decision, but ultimately one that needed to be made.

"Kenny came into the Club as Manager at our request at a time when Liverpool Football Club really needed him. He didn't ask to be Manager; he was asked to assume the role. He did so because he knew the Club needed him. He did more than anyone else to stabilize Liverpool over the past year-and-a-half and to get us once again looking forward. We owe him a great debt of gratitude.

"However, results in the Premier League have been disappointing and we believe to build on the progress that has already been made, we need to make a change.

"We are committed to delivering success for our supporters and our ambition remains resolute to return this great Club to the elite of England and Europe, where it belongs."

Kenny Dalglish's departure brings to an end his second spell at the Club where, as a player, he won numerous honours, including six English league titles and three European Cup trophies. As Manager he won three league titles, two FA Cups and of course this season, the Carling Cup.

Dalglish said he is proud to have served such a great Club.

"It has been an honour and a privilege to have had the chance to come back to Liverpool Football Club as Manager. I greatly appreciate the work that Steve, Kevin, the players and all of the staff put in during my time and feel proud that we delivered the Club's first trophy in six years winning the Carling Cup and came close to a second trophy in the FA Cup Final. Of course I am disappointed with results in the league, but I would not have swapped the Carling Cup win for anything as I know how much it meant to our fans and the Club to be back winning trophies.

"Whilst I am obviously disappointed to be leaving the football club, I can say that the matter has been handled by the owners and all concerned in an honourable, respectful and dignified way and reflects on the quality of the people involved and their continued desire to move the football club forward in the same way as when they arrived here.

"I would like to thank all of the staff at the Club for their effort and loyalty. I said when first approached about coming back as Manager that I would always be of help if I can at any time and that offer remains the same.

"Finally, I want to put on record my heartfelt gratitude to Liverpool's fans, who have always given me and the Club their unwavering support. Without them neither the Club nor I would have achieved anything."

RE: Liverpool FC
Come on groundnpound, "To hear talk of Rafa coming back or Roberto Martinez being the manager of Liverpool is an absolute, utter joke" I know the feeling for the club/Kenny is a little deeper in the city but "Utter joke" is a bit tough, Rafa is a proven quality manager & Martinez is proving to be of the same standard.

Yes Rafa has managed us before & at the end opinion was divided but he was given pretty much the run of the club by the people that brought him in & then the idiots that took over, all this after coming from Spain, a country where at some clubs you can't even select what players you want to buy, so no wonder given the chance he abused it a little.
I'm sure under the new setup he'd work just fine, like you said "Be honest with yourself & think back" how many good time were there under Rafa to how many bad ones.....

"Be honest with yourself", any manager who is in charge for a full season has had enough time to figure out tactics, formations & player selection, get them wrong & sort them out again, this has happend far too often this season but never was it sorted out again.
Luck doesn't come into it like I've said before it's just a word to use when things don't go right & you can't/won't think of anything realistic to say.

LODOS you can't just blame the players, this is what everyone who doesn't want to be realistic does. The manager bought them & gave them the tactics to use, the coaching staff should've noted how they wanted Andy Carroll to play before they bought him & when he didn't turn out like that they should've worked on it, yes this takes time but how many times have you seen Carroll just pull to the back post & totally disregard the centre of the box where all goalscorers would be, this tells me he's been almost left to his own devises or just tought the wrong style of playing team wise.

Look at the 4-1 Chelsea game where a lot of the ball was to feet & he kept getting brought onto play with Downing cutting inside rather than just bombing down the wing, we looked quality so why weren't we playing that way after about 10 games when they saw it wasn't going to plan & then changed it???

I see your point on Suarez, if Lucas & Gerrard were fit things just may have been different but it was what it was & it wasn't good enough plain & simple.

Liverpool have sacked more managers over the last few years than they have in the previous 10 or so but that doesn't mean we're losing our identity it's just that football & the modern day business of it is moving forward at a great pace but at pitch level we're either going way too slow or not moving at all.

if Kenny was anyone else we'd all have been calling for his head many many months ago & we'd have got our wish aswell. a legend of legends he is & always will be no matter what outsiders try & force upon us like I said below

(06-05-2012 14:33 )mitchell Wrote:  All these newspaper journos who are coming out with Kenny's status as a Kop legend is under threat is nothing short of plain & utter fucking ludacris!!! do they not remember or even know the amount of work & emotion he put into the club & more so the 96 families of Hillsborough over the years, I remember reading he went to 4 funerals on the same day, now I'm sorry if his emotions run high in some press conferences at times when Liverpool are being put into question but if situations like 4 funerals in one day is true then you can understand why. This coupled with how great he was as a player (Our greatest ever) & his first spell in charge as manager, 3 First Division titles, 2 FA Cups & 4 Charity Shields (2 shared) in just 6 years is why The King will never be considered as anything but.

Liverpool Football Club need to get back to where we were a few years ago which was on the edge of getting back into the swing of things & for the first ever time in the Premier League era, Rafa Benítez was as close as we have ever been, tactically a great manager & looking forward someone like Roberto Martinez who I think is on the edge of being one of a number of young manager around Europe who are set for big things at the right club, look at who & why Barcelona have just appointed Tito Vilanova, we're missing a big opportunity in not looking at Roberto Martinez.

RE: Liverpool FC
This is the match day squad I wouldn't mind seeing next season, bringing in Adam Johnson for £12-15m would be a top quality signing & Joe Cole in a 4-3-3 would prove his worth.

Gerrard could get back to his old self with Adam spraying the passes around & Suarez would be in the box even more, even if he pulled wide Cole or Johnson could drop back with Gerrard driving into the box.
Henderson & Shelvey could get more game time to help them learn & also play in their natural positions this could also apply to Spearing as we'd still have 2 players in there alongside them, the same goes for Sterling & if Carroll played Suarez could play left or right of the 3 so we wouldn't lose any creative drive.

Reina

Johnson Škrtel Agger Enrique

Gerrard Lucas Adam

Johnson Suarez Cole

Subs
Doni
Kelly
Carragher
Henderson
Shelvey/Spearing
Carroll
Sterling

To me Kenny just seemed out of date tactically that was always my fear as he hadn't managed since 2000.

I respect what your saying, but i wanst just blaming the players i meant that they should share the blame that everyone was putting on king kenny. I dont think tactics come into the fact that downing could not cross for shit all season.

RE: Liverpool FC
Mitchell, Adam Johnson can't get a game for City. Why would we want him at Anfield? We don't want players who can't cut it! He's another Downing for me. Cole isn't good enough either, if he was half the player he used to be he'd still be playing in the Premiership somewhere, not shipped out to France. Spearing shouldn't play for play for us again. He was badly exposed in the cup final, not good enough for Liverpool. He's a championship player. The team should be built around Carroll and Suarez with Gerrard doing what he's best at and not having the jobs of 3 men to do.

Never thought i'd ever see the words "Liverpool sack Dalglish". Was in tears earlier. Gutted.

FSG need to get the best manager out there for us. Someone that's gonna be in charge for the next 10+ years. They've got to get it right. They've said from day 1 they want to get us back to the top in England and in Europe. Let's hope the new boss takes us there.

It's an enormous decision for the future of Liverpool.
