I don't think the time is right to see what some untested manager can do,not at this moment in time.
One pot, does not a season make
If not now then when ? How about we think about starting from the beginning and build up to winning the title somewhat like how it was done when Shanks took us from the 2nd division onto the path to massive success.
Spot on
Mr77, it was the same with Dimitar Berbatov when he was at Bayer Leverkusen, none of the big clubs wanted to take the gamble so Tottenham went for it & then Utd saw the mistake they made & it cost them £20m more than it should've.
Most reds need to remember we've never challenged for the Premier League so how do you justify talking about challenging/winning titles???
Martinez is a young manager with mass potential so why not give him a chance as we can't fall behind anymore than we did last season, we've got a good squad of players if we use them right & whats to say Martinez won't do that, Wigan played football which is more than we did, loads of shots at goal isn't good football, Barca don't have a crazy amount of shots but still win games 2-0, 3-0, 4-0.....
We need a plan of 2 seasons to get a new formation & tactics & the team knowing how to produce the goods while using them to get back in the top 4, Martinez & our squad is good enough for that, fprmation & tactics next season & maybe even a top 4 finish but if not them the season after, remember there's 6 teams who are now going for the big money places so 2 are gonna miss out.
the truth how can you not want a new exciting young manager yet want an old head for 2 year before Carra takes over to go back to the old boot room days. This is what you said about Roberto Martinez.
"I don't think the time is right to see what some untested manager can do,not at this moment in time". Isn't it the same for Carra???
Carra would be about 36 with no experience & going back to the boot room days would be.
"Liverpool will not go back down memory lane,of that I am certain". What you said about us bringing Rafa back.
Pep Guardiola a much as I'd love it, I don't see it. Yes this is the kind of club where he can build from the start with young players & a good academy set up but I just don't see it especially if he wants big wages & transfer sums, Martinez won't want any of this & plays a good game he's already established in the hardest league in the world.
In Spain the club prestdent has a big say on transfers & this was Rafa's problem at Valencia, so when he came to us & the cluless twats gave him everything he asked for he took it too far, I doubt he'd argue if he was told by John W. Henry that his job was manager & nothing else.
Director of football, I just dont see why we need one & why this has become a big must have. Who told the owners about this role as I doubt they knew of it before they bought the club, whoever it was needs to be shot, idiots.
I get what your saying
cosmonaut but I think Rafa would work well with the owners if he had a talk with them, the reason he had problems with the last fools is the money wasn't there for a massive player drive of about 4 or 5 players coming in without any going out to bring money in, yes he spent a lot but we had to sell to buy aswell & as I've said our squad is decent with the injured players back so we only need to tinker with the tactics & formation & one thing Rafa is good at is tactics.
The situation looks like Roberto Martinez will be manager next week unless the director of football role becomes a massive issue, it's not an issue or role we need!!! Oh & Dave Whelan needs to stop being Sky Sports bitch & keep our business away from the public untill we're ready to release it.
