I'll chuck my opinion in here so here it is...

groundnpound I completly agree with the fact that we should be challenging for the league every year, Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world and should be up there with the best

BUT

I also agree with mitchell in the fact that we are no where near a top four finish let alone a title push, i have no doubt with the right manager and backing from the owners in the transfer market we will be champions again but at the moment we are no where near it.

With the whole manager thing i am 100% behind the thought of martinez being the new liverpool manager and i think he can make us great again.
Thats my opinion and respect that everyone will not agree with it.

The word "deserve" is the word that gets to me. It's a word i've never used. We don't "deserve" success any more than any other team.

I can see the point made by lads like Mitchell. The facts and figures are all there, plain for everybody to see and that's obviously the way some people like to base their optimism for the year ahead and that's cool but you can't try and drum it into everyone else that basically we've got no chance of winning the league any time soon.

Everybody knows how awful we've been in the league over the past 21 years. I've only celebrated a goal once with the feeling we could win the title after it went in. Benayoun at Craven Cottage a few years ago. Once in 15 years of going nearly every game but i still go into every new season with the hope and belief that we can win the title. There's nothing that could take that belief away. I support Liverpool Football Club and it's in the blood.

On a lighter note... This just in from Miami Quality.

To all the people who take exception to the use of the word "DESERVE", here are a few reasons not to.
Mitchell:if I was to steal your car/bike/skateboard(not sure what mode of transport you use) and I got collared by the old bill,would I not "DESERVE"to pay for my act of criminality against you?
Mr 77:if you met me one day and punched me on the nose for some of the 'cheeky quips I've laid against you would I not "DESERVE" it? Probably yes.
Groundnpound:your not honestly saying that you've never came home from a hard days graft,had a quite drink,bit if slap&tickle with other half,watched a decent performance on a babechannel and thought to yourself,I "DESERVE" that?
Finally:does not every employee/investors & most importantly the fans,who fork out there hard earned cash to travel & support LFC all over the country/europe/world(pre season tours) "DESERVE" to be challenging for & even winning titles,Employing the top managers available or at least be seen to be doing so?
For me,Yes and for that I make no apology.

The supporters deserve success again that's for sure but im talking about the team. The great sides of the past earned every one of their league winners medals. Theres only Stevie and Carra from the team just now that i can say deserve to have a league winners medal in their pocket.

They will soon hopefully.

Just for the record and clarity re: Martinez,I have no issues with the man! but every day the whole debacle over his possible employ,goes on,from Dave whealan airing are buisness in public to the fact that he (Martinez) a so called young "AMBITIOUS" manager, is allegedly making us "LIVERPOOL" wait while he mulls over his options leads me to believe he is not the right man for job at this moment in time.
Surely he should realise that Liverpool will be the biggest club he will ever likely have the opportunity to manage and should therefore be biting of the chairmans hand to get the job, which once again leads me to believe there's more to this than meets the eye(hopefully pep g being seduced)and let's face it,how will all the Martinez supporters feel if he turned us down?I'll tell how,like a bunch of c#@ts,you'll all be saying how the f#@k can he (Martinez) do that what has he ever done as a manger?
So in conclusion,if he gets the job I'll support him as a RED but as a individual I will always have my doubts about him.
Anyway that's my rant for the day over,just hope everything gets sorted sooner rather that later

Really? Just healthy debate in my opinion,no aggro att all mate,I'm sure you'll all agree there's nothing wrong with a little heated discussion? I respect everyones opinion regarding Liverpool whether I agree or not.
