i am thinking that every one of us has a favourite show (or three)
if you have a show that you follow create a thread on it so that others can add to the chat. the stargate thread is going nicely
i will throw my thoughts at the x files. i think this wonderful show is truly impressive. it ran for 202 episodes and 1 film (the last film was damn right shameful and wont be counted here)
over these episodes (in the old days) they were made in about 10 days with a very limited budget. so impressive considering it was against trash like friends where the 'stars' got a million dollars an episode to spout semi funny words and to sit on a sofa.
i was 13 when i started following this show and to my mind there is few shows to come close or equal it. buffy and 24 no doubt.
hopefully fans can add their favourite episodes/memories here.
i think there was maybe a handfull of poor episodes and that was about the height of it.
my favourite episodes are (if there has to be a few) series three episodes 'clyde bruckmans final repose' and 'jose chung's from outer space'
i cant help but get an irritated eye when the final scene of jose chungs comes on.
this show could actually do something new every week. (i was horrified the first time i watched humbug lol) you didnt know what you were getting. alien conspiracy, monster, comedy, serial killer you just didnt know. similar to the twilight zone in that respect.
hope people will add to this.

RE: x files fans
I decided I was gonna comment on here, since I think I've mentioned that The X-Files was a favourite show of mine (sorry for hijacking the thread Kelly!). I thought I'd select some favourite episodes from each season and comment on why I thought they were so great, but due to interruptions from Lost, Fringe and Red Dwarf it's ended up taking hours. It's also gotten quite long, but since I spent a lot of time on this I'm gonna post it anyway. I'll split it into seperate posts for each season, which should hopefully make it easier to both read and (hopefully) comment on. So without much further Apu, here goes.
Season the First...
The Pilot - A very moody, creepy debut. It's a shame the subsequent mythology episodes couldn't quite retain this atmosphere.
Squeeze/Tooms - A great sign of things to come. Anyone else notice Doug Hutchinson, who played the titular mutant psychopath, is currently playing a hippie in Lost?
Ice - Rip-off of The Thing, but creepy, paranoid and fun.
Fallen Angel - As a confirmed UFO nut when the show began, I loved this episode.
Beyond The Sea - I watched this show for nine years, and this is the only episode that actually scared me. Brad Dourif is the Man.
Darkness Falls - The environmentalist propaganda was laid on a bit thick, and there was a fairly obvious plot hole (why didn't they just light a fire?), but those bugs were freaky!
The Erlenmeyer Flask - The first cliff-hanger. Brilliant plot, and Deep Throat's murder truly shocked me. It annoyed me that Scully had completely forgotten about the alien fetus by the start of Season Two, but that's a separate issue.
So that's Season One. All in all, an excellent debut.

Season the Second...
The Host - I was a teenager when this thoroughly gruesome episode aired, so naturally I loved it.
Blood - An underrated but excellent exploration of paranoia.
Duane Barry - This episode truly kicked off the X-Files mythology, and I don't think I've ever seen the alien abduction plot handled better. This is the episode I point to when people ask me why I loved this show. Sadly, Ascension was a lukewarm follow-up.
One Breath - This thrilling, emotional rollercoaster was everything Ascension should've been. I loved it.
Irresistible - The sequel to this one pissed me off no end - Donnie Pfaster was far scarier as a human being. Makes me wish I’d gotten more into Millenium.
Colony/Endgame - Another legendary mythology two-parter. The twists came thick and fast, and the Alien Bounty Hunter was one ice-cold sumbitch!
Humbug - At the time I thought this was a great experiment by the writers. Sadly, its success birthed a monster in the form of the increasingly common comedy episodes, particularly in Season Six. Still, this episode was hysterical.
Soft Light - Pure weirdness!
Anasazi/The Blessing Way/Paper Clip - I know the second two are from Season Three, put I'm counting them altogether as perhaps THE best mythology storyline ever. Part 2 dipped a little, but overall it was brilliant, with revelations and new riddles perfectly balanced. Shame about Scully's sister, though. She was hot.
The show was really hitting its stride at this point.

RE: x files fans
Season three's company...
D.P.O - It feels weird when I remember that Jack Black made his debut in this episode. I still rate it highly, though, and the also debuting Giovanni Ribisi was excellent.
Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose - Darkly comic and touching at the same time, and Peter Boyle thoroughly deserved his Emmy. If "real" psychics were as likeable (or accurate) as Clyde, I'd believe them.
2Shy - A great gory episode and warning about the pitfalls of internet dating. Fat-sucking vampires - genius!
Nisei/731 - Another barnstorming mythology two-parter, and the to references to the holocaust were chilling.
War of the Copraphages - Doctor Bambi Berenbaum - 'nuff said. And yes, all of Darin Morgan's episodes will be on my list.
Piper Maru/Apocrypha - Deserves a mention for creating one of the most bizarre yet threatening alien life-forms ever in the Black Cancer. I think about that stuff when I occasionally see floaters in my eyes.
Pusher - An excellent thriller, though it was again cursed with a less successful sequel in Season Five.
Hell Money - Not a favourite of mine, but I'm mentioning to point out that Lucy Lui made her debut in this episode.
Jose Chung's 'From Outer Space' - I was still a believer when this episode first aired, so I hated it. Now that I'm a sceptic, I love it! A first class exploration of the confusing, conflicting and compelling subject of ufology.
On balance, I feel that this was probably the best season.
