I've not see or read much about Fabio Borini to be honest I thought he was a central striker? I've been thinking Luis would play left as he likes that side of the box. With Cole on the right who can play right of the 3 midfielders as well he'll interchange well with Gerrard throughout games so I can see him getting the right side forward slot.
We've got a good few options for the 3 midfield places this is why I was saying last season we need to play 4-3-3, even with the squad as it is we don't have to buy a midfielder.
Lucas will be first choice even above Gerrard over 38 games but especially away from home when winning 0-1 we can bring Spearing on right for added protection in the centre as well as Johnson (Gerrard would go left obviously) whoever starts could be replaced with.
Aquilani - Good passing technique.
Adam - Again quality passer but not great in the tackle, same as above.
Henderson - Will put himself about & offer options going forward, more or less on the right doubling up as cover for the right back.
Shelvey - More likely to come on when we're winning 0-2 as he's still young & needs to gain experience but will offer a bit going forward around the box.
Joe Cole - I see him more as one of the front 3 but is a good creative option in the midfield.
I think Rodgers is looking to give chances to our fast developing young talent that’s why Kuyt, Maxi & probably Bellamy are no longer needed.
Jack Robinson, Suso, Conor Cody & maybe Andre Wisdom could be given a few chances in the cup competition more than likely alongside dead certs Sebastián Coates, Jon Flanagan, Jay Spearing & Danny Wilson. I think Raheem Sterling will be used in the cups as well but this season he maybe used as a 2nd choice sub for one of the forward roles in the league games & Martin Kelly I expect at some point will take over the right back slot.
All in all even with no more signings I think we've got a squad capable of comfortably finishing in the top 3 as long as we take to Rodgers style within the first 8 games which given the players we've got we should do.
I can't wait for the season to start, excited as fuck!!!
Not counting the Lancashire League 1892–93 we've won 22 league titles in total: Football League Second Division 4 & Football League First Division 18 the last of which was 22 years ago, this season starts in 2
012,
01 in the league 22 years on, spooky, or am I just looking at the same shit they did with Coronation Street & the European Cup.
