This happen at my beloved club Leeds United, administration, relegation to League 1, -10 deduction, money troubles etc etc . I wouldn't wish this on any club let alone Portsmouth FC

I never understand why this is done. Ok it's a punishment for letting a club get into a financial mess but to be automatically relegated with a transfer embargo and a deduction of points is too much. Give a club punishment by going after those responsible, not the club itself. One thing guaranteed-the persons making the bad decisions and taking these clubs into debt walk away to spend another day.
The only people who really suffer are the fans who support faithfully, come rain or sun and small local businesses who are owed money.

RE: Football Banter
The relegation is not automatic. It's just that in the majority of cases, the 10-point penalty is enough to put teams down. Palace escaped two years ago despite being docked points for entering administration, but we only stayed up by getting a point on the last day of the season against our direct relegation rivals.
Pompey fans have certainly had it tough since their cup win in 2008, especially as they've had a string of dodgy owners, not just one. But they can take comfort (of sorts) that their "friends" from along the South Coast were in exactly the same position three years ago, i.e. relegated to League One, 10 points deducted, but will be kicking off this coming season back in the Premier League.

As eagle_si said Portsmouth were not punished with automatic relegation as you stated, we just happed to finish in the bottom 3. For the record, we haven't been punished with a transfer embargo either. If we are able to exit administration we will be free to sign players. The embargo is only whilst we are still in administration, but it's impractical for us to sign players whilst we are still in administration anyway. As for the points deduction, it was given because the last time we were in administration we managed to exit administration by promising to pay the creditors 20p in the pound, but didn't actually pay it and are now offering 1p instead.

No, the one thing you say is guaranteed actually isn't guaranteed at all. The person who took Portsmouth into debt on this occasion is under arrest for fraud, so he won't be walking away to spend anytime soon.

This is what football fans forget. Yes it is shit that we have to go and watch our team get beat buy a team consisting of a postman, factory workers and a plumber, when not so long ago they were playing illustrious ties in the cup.
However, think out shit it is for companies who were built up generations and generations ago who put money into football clubs with good faith to then be told a few years later that the £500,000 owed to them is actually going to be a lot lot less as we can only afford to offer you 1p to the £ bladewave

Plymouth done it a while ago, when they were building their posh new stadium ready for our Olympic bid, they over spent massively on the hope they'd be picked. The people who developed and laid their playing surface took on the work and were due back money in the region of £700,000. However when Plymouth couldn't pay back because they'd suffered financial troubles due to their own over spending, they then offered every one 1P to the £.
Now the administrators have gone, the company who laid the surface at Plymouth suffered their own money troubles and folded... Rolleyes But it is okay because James Brent the new owner has said that Plymouth now have a "Promotion Budget" annoyed

In other news... Anton Ferdinand is due to go to court again for allegedly wrecking a flat he was renting whilst at Sunderland

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/new...state.html

He is being sued for over £18,000 which he is refusing to pay. Some of the cost is for furniture that he took when he left. Anton admitted to taking furniture by "mistake" Rolleyes

I was talking generally and not about Portsmouth. The real point I was trying to make was that it's the fans who are made to suffer whenever this sort of thing happens.

blame harry redknapp and milan mandaric for the financial problems. milan and harry brought in players that they could not afford and on wages which the capacity of fratton park cant handle. harry spent what about £40m and only the cup he won was the FA Cup.

Its not looking good for the future of Portsmouth, as the administrator has said that Portsmouth could be liquidated in the next couple of weeks

It's a shame we don't still have Darren Jones at the heart of our defence. He'd have knocked Joey the fuck out!! As we found out last season he doesn't take much grief.

Still, if he happens to play for Fl££twood next season then I will personally ensure he feels welcome when he visits our place Big Grin
