I feel he gave a good account of himself during the fight, but it's almost as though his fights are simply exciting exibition matches.
It was a great fight, but he has a lot more to offer his oponants than stand up fighting, so he may as well take the risk of following his oponants to the ground, after unleashing a heavy barrage of punches and trying for a submission finish, rather than the tried and tested formula that no longer works for him.
He isn't a washed up fighter, quite yet, but unless he changes tactics, he's in very real danger of becoming so.

I get what your sayin but his fight age looks older than his actual 36 years, he looks like a 38-40 year old fighter who's just winding down. His career means he'll always get top opponents but I don't see him changing his game for one last push for the top, he doesn't look capable of much other than maybe 1 outburst per 15min & for the rest he just gets picked off. Look at what I said about Rich Franklin in that post, you can't say the same about Silva with the same conviction.

To me he just looks like a fighter who's on his way out & I don't see him fighting past another 2 or 3 fights. He's an old warrior who just can't say no, since his 2007 return to the UFC his record stands at: 2-5 with 2 1st round KO losses & 3 unanimous decisions, other than his 2nd round TKO of Cung Le his only other win was a 36sec KO of Kieth Jardine & I don't see him doing that to a top fighter anytime soon so will need to count on a big one off shot to put someone out & fighting smart fighters like Franklin just showed Rich knew he would win the fight by standing off Silva & breaking him down & stepping away on the odd occasion when Silva tried to attack.

The anticipation before a Wanderlei Silva fight when you hear Sandstorm kicking in is alway big but the result is becoming all-too apparent & to preserve his Pride days just like Cro-Cop I think he should call it a day before he gets sparked by someone like Patrick Côté or same old same old in a rematch with Bisping.

Well that ppv was a massive let down, other than the first fight the rest was just shit

dude that was a tough watch, only remotely decent fight was riddle/clements the rest were just so dull. What was Kongo doing just holding him against the cage. thought faber would try and mix things up with a bit of wrestling but was just like a reply of the Aldo fight but with not as much action.

Bisping stann squaring up

It looks like a fight at a wedding day.

In other news, it looks like UFC on Fuel TV 6 will be the UFC's first foray into China when it lands in Macau on November 10.

Does anyone else get the feeling Stann's gonna knock Bisping out at 152? This fight just has that vibe about it for me... Like the Dan Henderson fight. Can just picture the big build up to Silva vs Stann for some reason!

Frank Mir to Strikeforce Well, for one fight. He'll fight Daniel Cormier in October. Both will fight for the UFC after.

Why don't they bring Cormier to UFC and have it in the octagon? Daft for me.
