I agree 24m for a 30 year olsd is al ot of monney mate, but some people would argue on here that his scoring record in the Prem is second to none!!
I'm surprised Man utd made a move for him and not having offloaded Berbatov first[u] I guess the money would now just go into Arsenal's coffers readiy for the January transfer window.
My crazy football predictions for 2012/13 follow : -
1) What I hope for most this season (as a QPR fan) is that somewhere along the line we can have a good cup run (or two) and aim for a mid - table finish and Joey Barton finds a job outside football!!Big Grin
2) We will get through the season with no scandal involving JT!
3) England get off to a winning start for 2014 Finals qualifiers.
3) Sir Alex Ferguson retires after a heavy Man Utd defeat in FA Cup
4) Mancini resigns after Balotelli sets fire to his flat (yet again!!)
But is his scoring record in the Premiership that impressive. This is the first season, where Van Persie has looked prolific, although he has been injured in past seasons.

If he avoids injury, then I expect him to be high up there in the scoring charts and form a very good partnership with Rooney

I'm still bamboozled that Man United haven't tried signing a centre midfielder. Thats the final piece in the jigsaw to making Man United a very formidable force not just in England, but in the Champions League also

I think they are looking for Cleverly to step up.

I'm wonder if Utd would be looking to offload Rooney in January if his partnership with Persie doesn't work?

RE: Football Banter
Premiership other tournament predictions predictions

Top 7

1. Man United - The signing of Van Persie has changed my mind, plus Kagawa could be one of the signings of the season

2. Chelsea - Strong squad, a strong manager, but are short in the striker department

3. Man City - Also have a strong squad, but I'm wondering will their new formation work. Plus I think they will concentrate more on the Champions League

4. Arsenal - Still have a good team despite Van Persie's departure. Santi Cazorla will be a huge boost to them

5. Liverpool - I expect them to improve with Rodgers in charge. If they manage to sign Tello and Sahin, then I expect them to be closer to the Champions League places than I thought originally

6. Newcastle - I don't want to jinx it and think we will finish higher than that. We have kept all our best players and I expect 2 or 3 more to come in. My main concern is that I'm wondering if Pardew has a formation in mind to suit the team and not just certain players. Plus we might have success in the cup competitionsBig Grin

7. Tottenham - Villas Boas doesn't have a chairman or certain players that will undermine him as a manager, so he can go about his business as normal like at Porto. Good defence, good midfield, but really short in the striker department and if they don't solve it then 7th place is likely. I expect them to be more successful in the cup competitions

Relegation

18. Southampton - They look at bit short and flaky in defence, but I think they will be like Blackpool and be exciting to watch. But they will concede too many goals, which will cost them

19. Reading - They look like they have the same problems as QPR did at the start of last season in having a Championship defence, but I'm aware they kept a lot of clean sheets last season, although they have the resources to change it. If they strengthen the defence then I think they might just survive. On the plus side they have made good signings in Guthrie and Pogrebnyak

20. Wigan - This time they will get relegated, but if the formation they used towards the end of last season works, then I could be surprised

I really hope though its West Ham that get relegated, I hate Sam Allardyce. If not West Ham, I hope Sunderland go down

Surprise package - Swansea. They surprised at few last season and some are expecting them to be relegated this time after Rodgers left. But they have a clever manager in Michael Laudrup, who plays attractive football and knows how to work under a tight budget

Top goal scorer - Aguero

Signing of the season - Santi Cazorla

First manager to be sacked - Brian McDermott (Althought I hope its Sam Allardyce)

FA cup winners - Arsenal

League cup winners - Aston Villa

Finally the predictions that are not so important

Just for the sake of it, I predict Joey Barton to beat up a few people in a night club and wind up in jail.

I also predict Joey Barton will declare himself better than MessiBounce

Mark Hughes will send Martin Jol to hospital for trying to hug him

Jaime Redknapp will continue to enthral us with his in depth analysis and declare how much he really loves Balotelli

Harry Redknapp will stick his nose at every opportunity in Tottenham's business

Howard Webb will give Liverpool at penalty against Man United at Old TraffordBounce

Sam Allardyce's West Ham will surprise everyone by managing to pass the ball 3 times on the ground

Sir Alex Ferguson will say that all officials are against Man United

Rooney enters Celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and wins 1 millionBounce

The Match of the Day Pundits will no longer state the obvious and say something bad about Man United, while Alan Hansen continues to think pace and power are the most important attributes of a player

Really. Who compared him to Adam Johnson? I had a look at some vids earlier and Tello looks a serious talent. He played 15 games last season for Barcelona, he only turned 21 last week!

I knew next to nothing about this kid a few hours ago, had only seen his 2 goals on his champions league debut last season. I read earlier that players and staff at the nou camp think he's the one player on their books that might come close to reaching the heights that Messi has. From what i've seen and read tonight i'd say he's a few notches better than Johnson already, with the potential to be something special.
