yep thats her first appearance in dr who. karen isnt the first modern era dr who companion to appear in the series in a minor role before being a full time dr who companion. freema agyeman (martha jones) 1st appeared in dr who in the series 2 two part finale army of ghosts & doomsday before appearing in the 1st episode of series 3 as martha jones. catherine tate (donna noble) 1st appeared in the xmas special runaway bride as donna before being full time companion in series 4

fantastic first episode, massive surprise early on with new dr who companion jenna louise coleman appearing and playing a key role in the episode and a good twist for amy and rory and another twist with jenna louise coleman at the end
