RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
Besides the extra 90 minute documentary, the exclusive Sainsbury's version also has alternative art work on the cover for anyone who collects things like that. Personally it's the film content that counts with me.
Not sure if I feel too comfortable with selected supermarkets doing deals to get their own special version. Any fan is likely to pre-order with major suppliers like Amazon or Play.com. Won't be happy to then find out just before the release date that an uncut version can only be found at Tesco bladewave

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
disney have now held their hands up and admitted theyve made a mistake about the uk dvd & bluray release of avengers. theyve posted this on the official avengers assemble uk & ireland facebook page this morning

Quote:Thanks to those of you who have let us know about an issue on the Marvel Avengers Assemble UK Blu-ray and DVD release, which has a less graphic depiction of Agent Coulson's confrontation with Loki. Each country has its own compliance issues relative to depictions of violence. Unfortunately, another region’s elements were inadvertently used to create the UK in home release which minimally altered this scene in the film. We thank our fans for their vigilance in recognising this and apologise for the mix up

interesting if they offer anything in compensation

Yet they said it was edited in the cinema release as well sounds there back tracking after being caught out, doubt they'll be any compensation if any thing they'll probably allow the discs to swapped at some future point.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
thats what it sounds like to me too that theyre backtracking. especially after their statement when they said it hadnt been cut and was the same version that was in uk cinemas which failed spectacularly to deal with the complaints.

as for compensation. if they do decide to offer something, i think they should. it will probably something like youve said where people can swap their disc for a disc with the correct version of the film on it. or they could do a new bluray release with more extras etc and give people who have bought this bluray release a discount or give it them for free

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
the resident evil collection which i got today for just £14 at hmv. its a 4 bluray disc set which has all 4 resident evil films with a good amount of extras. worth getting so youre up to speed with events in the franchise before the new resident evil film, resident evil film retribution comes out in cinemas at the weekend.

also of course have to recommend Bond 50. which has all 22 james bond films on bluray together for the first time along with 120 hours of bonus content including a look at the next james bond film skyfall which is out at the end of october and has a space for you to put skyfall in the boxset when its out on bluray early next year

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I highly recommend the film on blu ray The Raid, I didn't get to see this in cinema but i have been hearing big things about this film. Film transfer is 1080p for the most part is very detailed so especially when theres lot of action going on scene theres no loss of detail. In most places the images are sharp and rich in colour but totally crisp in places i think its maybe because of style of film which is trying to be gritty. The sound is top notch, when you have this hooked up to a 5.1 cinema system you hear every kick, every blow and gun shots or people talking in the background. As for extras there's a good set of extras on disc and price its available for you certainly get your moneys worth. If your big fan of martial arts films and the Asia cinema then you gotta have this in your collection.
The Second film i highly recommend is a blu ray called Transit starring Jim Caviezel, again the transfer is full 1080p, everything is always looking crisp and detailed, the colours always look deep and rich they did a really good with the transfer. The Sound is again brilliant, you hear every word and every sound and even little background noises can heard too giving you a all round great experience when watching the film. As for extras only a trailer am afraid which is a little disappointing its shame there wasn't more extras. all in all worth a pick up if you can get it cheap picked up mine for a fiver but still recommend it.
I also recommend Batman year One now this is only on dvd at the moment but i highly recommend picking this up if your a big fan of animated films and a Batman fan and at only a fiver its a totally bargain at that price.

Wrath of The Titans. Worth getting on blu ray, especially if you have a 5.1 system. I had just the basic blu ray which seemed a bit lacking in extras to be honest but there may be more on the other blu ray versions. Not the best film you will see this year but still a good nights viewing and action all the way. 7/10.

RE: Blu Ray Recommendations
I highly recommend the blu ray The Terminator, not only was this one of fav films but they've given it a new remastered transfer. Now the transfer on blu ray is a hell of a improvement over dvd version, for the most part its really clear and the images are very detailed and you even notice a lot more things then before compared to how it was on dvd thats how good the transfer is and colours look deep and rich. However there is a little bit of grain here and there but thats to be expected as it is a old film and because the its so detailed the effects have aged so you see notice it a lot more but all in all a excellent transfer and in full 1080p.
The sound is a massive improvement and upgrade its a full 5.1/DTS treatment and you fully hear the benefit of hearing through a cinema system. Now the extras are a big disappointment as theres only a couple and the dvd counter part a few years ago had tons of extras.
But if your a big Terminator fan then its a simply most to have in your collection Smile.
